I've recently acquired 2000 Pontiac Firebird T-Top 3.8 V6 POS. I want to keep the miles off the 6.2 and want something i can romp around in and drive places without caring about millage.

Plans:
LS1 or LQ4 swap
Beef up the 4l60
LT's
BTR Cam
243 Heads
Depending on year 2001+ intake or Fast LSX
Rim's/tires TBD

Parts needed (* will denote acquired parts) :
Motor/trans or bell housing
LS1 K member
Radiator
Efans
Steering rack
Fuel Pump
PCM/ECU + Harness
Misc Hoses
Cluster
Gas Pedal ?

Buddy has an LS1 out of his WS6 with 160k on it and is going to give me the computer with it and bell housing for $1300 bucks.

Theres an 00 Up here I was looking at some T56 parts from, hes supposed to let me know if someone doesnt pull the whole car thursday, If falls thru Ill let you know. You could easily buy a core 5.3L block and go 5.7 in it for minimal cost (my neighbor has iron 5.7L/T56 in his 67 Camaro he Auto Xs and is cheap bastard). Seems High for Core stuff. But Im used to leisurely picking stuff up I guess.

Only reason id like to go with an ls1 off the bat is i think its going to be cheaper and easier and quicker to just rebuild/freshen up. I plan on dropping it off @ a shop down here since i dont have the time to do it.

Rebuild/freshen isnt going to be too cheap haha. As long as its clean and doesnt need a ton of machine work youll be fine. Im sure itll be suitable having the harness/Accessories/Etc all correct though. Im used to having to solve a puzzle being a swap anyway. Time=Money I suppose. Better catch 243s before me, I always snag them when I see them.

Its coming from my buddys ws6, comes with everything id need as far as accessories. Engine runs strong and isn't knocking and from what he remembers it doesn't burn oil. Has a slight pan leak but no big deal.

What am i looking at as far as rebuilding it from a local shop?

Ls1 swap into a v6 firebird is nice and straight forward. Just make sure to upgrade the suspension as well. Wouldn't be fun to romp around with those whimpy springs up front.

I don't know what that means. But one very big suggestion is sub frame connectors. I like UMI performance sub frame connectors

Sorry read your message really quick while i was out the door.

I'm not going too crazy like trying to make a 9 second car. I want a comfortable dd that is capable to run 12's/11's. I was going to run coil overs instead of the LS1 struts just for the extra strength.
