SCG Pro Line Testing/Review

i said it in the chatbox and ill say it again. im sure dylan went from adams with the knowledge of the products there and what to do to make something better than those. i commend him on doing that so ill be sure to test the waters soon once stuff runs out of adams.

besides the surface prep, next thing on the list would probably be whatever their polishing compounds would be since i dont wanna drop 100 bucks at adams for their 2 step, liquid paint sealant just to throw away their old 3 step and old machine super wax.
 
What's the main difference between the exterior trim and tire dressings? Besides the $2 difference. I had it in my cart last night but couldn't make up my mind. I have 3 bottles of vrt and I like it, but it doesn't seem to last long on the tires.
 
Just used the clarifying glass sealant. Only used rainx before so that's all I have to personally compare it to. Smells strong like typical glass sealant, applied the same as rainx, but noticed it comes off a ton easier. Rainx seemed to be more greasy, and smear around a lot if I tried to dry wipe it off. SCG came off nice and easy after maybe 30 seconds - 1min of cure time.

The bottle doesn't say anything about waiting till haze or certain cure time. But figured I'd give it a little time to do its magic. For mine I clayed the windshield and then applied to Windows, sunroof and mirrors. On my dad's I cleaned Windows & tows, clayed both, then sealed both twice. Now I'll wait for rain to drive around in it lol

i imagine it should work pretty good.
 
And just used the spray glaze. No real performed opinion yet till I take it outside in a few days. But it was thicker than I expected. I only used a flimsy Americans mini applicator so it was a little tough to spread if it got thick.

I had it in spray nozzle but it shot stream when I sprayed slow & short on the applicator. Spray shot was alright on big panels. But full trigger spray got messy

Or even a 4oz sampler kit. I'd buy that as well. I'm getting a sample of the extreme suds. Can't wait to try it out so I can order some for my Father's Day gift. Lol

Couple of things -

ETC is a little more satin in finish, its also thicker in consistency so it doesn't run off your applicator as you're working over your paint or near glass. In the event it does get on there it removes easily, but no one likes wasting a half an ounce of product on the ground. It can be applied to tires - some people actually have and the results are decent. It has a lower gloss than TDC though, so its a little wasted when you consider you can grab TDC cheaper per oz and dilute to suit your gloss needs.

TDC is a glossier finish and formulated specifically for tire compounds. The rubber used in tires is unique from rubbers used in a lot of other automotive applications. Over the years working on various tire products I came to realize that just b/c something looked good on say a door seal rubber, didn't mean it would work well on a high performance rubber compound. Thats not to say you couldn't put it on the trim, but the results would be inconsistent - its tire rubber dressing pure and simple.

Sounds like you were spot on. Doesn't take long to haze up...

Spray onto the applicator, not onto the surface, if you have areas where you're trying to avoid overspray. (as per the video)

Working on this... just trying to find a 4-6oz bottle that suits the pro line - not easy to find a square 4oz bottle in all black LOL

I thought it was cool to have it as a spray over the regular pour style like brilliant glaze. But guess I'll mostly just be lightly spraying the app

bedsides and large panels you can spray direct greg, its only tight areas like a pillars and shit, that you need to spray it right on the applicator.

You're better off going directly to the applicator anywhere. It's not a fine mist spray like a detail spray. It's a thicker liquid that doesn't spray light or evenly. At least in the few times I tried it. I ended up with most of it concentrated in the center and had to try and pull it out over the area, gooping up the pad. Much easier to just get a thin layer on the pad

Actually had a meeting about that yesterday including powertour, good guys, and all the big ones - I'll post the calendar as soon as its finalized. The big rigs are rolling all over the place this year.

Only reason I asked was because I feel like I remember seeing it at the Right Coast Cars Syracuse Nationals before.
