Discussion: 2003-2007 GMT800 (NBS) LED cluster conversion

I did white, but because of the film on the overlay they look light blueish. I'll grab a pic tonight to show you.

Yeah they had a slight blue when I tested it....i really dont like the blue lights for gauges, rather have white but whatever

yeah it will be....the blue just screams rice to me for some reason....even though the most rice i've owned had a green interior gauges....that was just awful

So LEDs are in...they are BARELY blue. Im excited!!! I guess when testing them out using a 9v battery, since they were running at lower voltage they showed more blue, wired it all in, thru it in the truck and bam, suckers are white! Its good stuff.

Pics? Really thinking about doing this with mine just don't want to spend the money/time to do all the other buttons and switches to match.

Im gonna have to do the others now, they are so damn bright comapired to everything else haha. My HVAC controls really need it, they look pretty poor these days.

Picture. The blue is so sutle that the camera has a hard time picking it up

Its a standard LED strip from vleds, the interior rated one. The oly real issue with them you need to be careful and trim out two areas where the LEDs go under the two braces between the speedo and all the other gauges. Its damn bright though, its almost more then the nav unit ha.

Yeah they are really nice, I like them alot. Suckers are bright as f*&% though. I havent driven it at night but in the morning on the way to work its like holy crap...everything can be easily read.

I like that white, I had red lit esky cluster in my Sierra and loved it though. I use a plastic trim tool to remove needles from clusters when Im messing with them. I also took some needles apart, taped off the white part (with blue vinyl pinstripe masking tape), and used the testors candy paint, and candied the needles red, looked much better IMO even with stock lighting in the cluster.

I'd love to have red if I didnt already have a red overlay. If I could find a Joe Gibbs overlay I'd do that and red leds.

Did you run your LED strip like James did?

Explain how 3 inches works so well. :crossarms:
