where did you get the spikes from?

I did not. They turned out, eh, ok...they got a lot of dirt nibs in the clear.


Finished up some little things on the bumpers the other night. Picked up this rubber moulding stuff to put on the edges of the rear bumper. Had enough to do the center plastic pad. I also masked off the step area on the center pad and sprayed some bedliner on it.

Last night I hauled the bumpers and a bunch of parts down to my place. Got the front end tore down.

Started working on my lights today. After over 3 years of owning this thing, I'm going to finally get the lights cleared.

Thanks guys. The other night after I puled the Fab Fours bumper off I went around measuring my fender height and I only got 1 inch of Cali. I'm thinking I won't be putting the add-a-leaf in the back along with the new U bolts and U bolt plates I had planned on using. I do no want any rake on this thing. Next items on the list is to get the OEM shock brackets off, weld on the new ones, mount the Bilsteins, and then start spray bombing the frame, axle, suspension, etc.
 
Not much progress tonight. Washed the frame and undercarriage in preparation to paint up the frame everything. Got one of the shock mounts cut off of the axle. I'm going to have to cut some new shock brackets, rather than the ones I bought from Ruff Stuff. I need longer ones to get the shocks away from the brake lines.

Oh and while I had the one wheel/tire off....

Looks great Shawn! Pics of the u-bolts and plates? Possibly interested in selling?

Edit: Nevermind, I saw the pics in the first post. Are you flipping the shocks to be both on the rear part of the axle then?

No, I want to hang onto them. And the shocks will be both on the rear of the axle and will have new mounts on the top and the bottom. Top brackets will be welded to the cross frame cross member, same one the driver side shock mounts to.
 
i want to relocate both of mine to the back, and in towards the middle a hint cuz of how close my exhaust is to it.
 
Cut your shocks off they said. Mount your new ones like all the bros they said. FML I spent a lot of time on these things. Spent all afternoon cutting, grinding, and welding up the new lower mounts. I needed something longer to get the shocks away from all the brake lines. They're made out of 3in. x 1/4 steel. Ran out of oxygen on the torch cutting off the last bracket on the axle. Shit. Had to use the sawz-all to cut that last bracket and the one up top on the frame crossmember. Got the new ones tacked in place. I need to drill out the Ruff Stuff tabs that I'm using up top, then get some bolts and this project is done. Can start painting the axle. I think I'll jump for the billet clamps for these shocks.
