Trailblazer verter

Thanks guys. I can find info all over about converters, but no one uses their trucks to tow really after they do cam, bolt ons, etc. I still use my truck as a daily driver and I live on a farm so it's gets it's share of duty. I'd like the bump in performance, but not sure if I should put this converter in my stock trans now, or wait until she blows and then do it. I'd really like to do it now though.

My city and freeway mileage is not good the way it is, I only get 12.5-13 hwy and 9-10 city. And it's not like my truck is really big either, I only have 285/75-16s (33s) and a 6" lift with a comp 212/218 114lsa cam and headers, tuned by blackbear. I've been debating if switching from 3.73 to 4.10 gears would be worth the hassle and money too? Any input?

the only negative thing id say about this converter when towing, is my truck is noisy as fuck.
aside from that, I have enjoyed the extra boost it gets when starting to move, and the rpm range it stays in when it shifts, at speed it is only dropping to about 2800prm on shifts, which keeps you moving, and not up and down contantly in gears.

As for your re gearing option, that was the best mod I think ive done. I have 35s and I went 488, so a little higher than you are talking about. I re geared because I fucking hated towing with the 35s and 373. It was gutless.
I feel as my headers were a 0 gain performanmce wise, and the truck is just louder, so if you enjoyed the boost from your headers that people talk about, then wait till you see what a re gear and a tb stall does.

Well I did cam and headers at the same time, but I also enjoy how loud they are when you unbolt the exhaust. But yes, when towing it can get very loud in the truck too. I know my truck is a turd still, it's a bit faster than any of my friends 5.3s, and pulls hard from 3k on up, but getting up to 3k rpms is embarrasing almost, it just bogs down so hard.

I've been thinking about 4:56 but not sure if that is too much gear for 33s. I've seen others have done that with 33s and thoroughly enjoy it, but then what happens to freeway mileage? 3.73 to 4.10 is about 200 rpm difference at 70mph. I spin 1900 rpm at 70 and 3.73 to 4.56 is a 400 rpm difference at 70, so how bad will fuel economy drop on the highway if I do that? I rarely ever cruise over 70 mph because it's not fuel efficient at all.

In my personal opinion I'd run a 4:56 with a 33"
currently i run 4:10 with a 27" or 28"ish tire so with that being said id imagine a 4:56 with a 33 would be close.
I honestly think you would have a good possibility of gaining some MPG because of less strain on the motor. I started with 3:23 when i went to 4:10 I noticed about a 2mpg gain!

I'm doing about 2500 at 70 with 35s and 488.
So I'd imagine somewhere in the 22-2300 range is where you would be with 33s and 456.

The shop that did my gears told me that 488 would only turn another 150 or so rpm than 456 on 35s. Meaning they would have been around 2350 at 70

4.56s and the tb stall will really wake that truck up. Made a huge difference in mine and I thought it was pretty good with just the 4.88s

Thanks guys I'm glad to hear all of this. I really want the stall, If it's cheap enough I'll throw it in my trans right away. Saw on pt.net in a thread where a guy bought one from advance auto that's reman? Anybody have any suggestions where to buy it from?

You can get them from any parts store usually they're not pricey at all. Or search for sale sections lol.

Did some looking yesterday and I can get a reman one from pro-king, which seems to be a very reputable company, for about 150 locally. That sounds like a deal to me, I'll have to get one very soon.

Usually pro-kings aren't the i6 trailblazer stall speed, but the stall speed for trucks so careful on that one.

Never updated this, but I tried asking a buddy at that work's at oreily's and he couldn't order me any torque convert or find one in the state. So I'm still on the lookout for one. I'd prefer an oem one if anyone can find me one.

I want a comverter, but I've been searching all over the web and can't find the right one, and wrecking yards around here are useless, they never want to part anything. I asked for an esky inside handle last time and guy was only gonna sell complete door smh.

Anybody know where to get me an oem tb converter for around $200?
