TBSS 402 Build AWD

Gonna need a new cam and lower comp to run any appreciable boost on that bad boi. I dig the max effort Na build

Been a DD for a year now with this motor and while I agree it's not a DD that comfortable for most, I dig it. I don't listen to the radio (doesn't work but nav works) and it drones like a mofo with the dual dumps but I couldn't care less. The CR is "ok" for boost but not optimal. Plus a 402 is a little too many cubes IMO for a TVS2300. If I decided to boost it I'd sell the HCI and do a lower CR with an ECS setup or turbo. But if I "really" wanted to go fast, I'd do that setup in a Vette. Lol

New engine build is going in this weekend. Hopefully I'll have time to finish it up and have it running by next weekend.

New setup
404ci
4.010 x 4.00
Wiseco -3cc forged Pistons
New Cleavite bearings
New Durabond cam bearings (previous 402 was assembled by TSP and was found to have aftermarket cam bearings in positions 1 and 5, and GM bearings in 2-4)
Polished the Callies Compstar crank
Compstar forged rods
Same cam as before 23x 24x 61x 61x 113 with 14* overlap
New ARP head studs and main studs
Cometic HG
MAMO Motorsports MMS 235 NFI heads with some added port work
BTR platinum spring kit Ti retainers
Same trunion upgraded rockers
Manton 11/32 pushrods
Johnson SLR 2110 lifters
Mamo port matched LSXRT
LS3 injectors for break in period, August we will be tuning dyno/track with E85

Still the same trans/stall/NW102

Suspension is just getting some rear LCA relocation brackets to help in tuning.

I also sold my True Forged wheels so I'll be ordering a set of Welds soon if I can ever decide on a size.

Looking to just make a couple of NA 11 sec passes on 22's for now at 4600 lbs.

I haven't really mentioned it but recently was asked by a very reputable Speed/Performance shop in my area if I'd come in and help out on Saturdays so that now gives me access to their lifts and AWD dyno and tools that I haven't had before which is awesome. This truck has been built in my garage, on my back, with hand tools. Lol

And new head studs because one broke about an inch and a quarter below deck surface so I had to drill that out...

Mmm, those valve covers look sick!

Wish I had the coin to get heads from Mamo, maybe next build I will

Covers are the Holley's that have been hydrodipped CF. I was hesitant on the hydrodip as I didn't want anything that wasn't real CF on the truck but wasn't sure how laminating the covers would react to the heat.

To mine and Tony's knowledge, these will be the first MMS heads on a TBSS

Probably a good call on the hydrodip. I had mine powdered so no worries there.

And hopefully it's not slow, or he might not want to do anymore for TBSS's :cheeky:

Yeah, my orange ones were powdered and held up great.

According to Tony and Matt's math this engine should be much more efficient at flowing air in and out and we all know what that typically results in...

I did not, however the machine shop did give them a look and was satisfied with these particular ones. I have 2 or 3 sets to choose the best ones from.

:mynga:

Starting at noon tomorrow. The wife needs the morning to go workout so ill have the kids until then. Then she's taking them to her parents so it's game on....
