We put it on the local dyno and had nothing but issues with the non-coupled AWD dyno so no accurate numbers there. First time at the track ran a 12.08 and 12.03 on stock 20's and break-in tune. Went back in late May on 17" DR's and ran 11.88 11.85 and 11.83 which were all good enough for the TBSS NA AWD All Motor Record according to TBSSOWNERS.com. I lost the record a few months later to an 11.7 but that shouldn't stand for too much longer....

On to the pics....

Eventually switched out the red rails for black ones and the polished NW102 for a black one as well. Painted the motormounts, carrier and front diff. All new seals in the diff and rebuilt the carrier and converted it from GM grease to gear oil.

Transmission? Awesome build!

Trans is an RPM Transmission Level 6 4L70E with all of the upgrades/options aside from the SFI Bellhousing. I went with the level 6 because at the time it was overkill for being behind a bolt-on motor....

Holy shit I'm in love. Did the stock motor gives up? Or did you just pull it

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

300 miles after installing the Yank 3600 stall and RPM Trans, I did a 3k launch getting onto the interstate and spun the bearings in the motor. Didn't window the block, just a bad knock so I shut it down and parked it until parts became available and until Matt (LT1Z) and I made a decision on what was the best route to take for the build.

Damn...so its as gnarly as it looks in your tiny avatar pic. excellent.

Thank you.

Can I ask why the 2 X Pipes?
I know their purpose, but never seen 2 used

1 X-pipe, 2 Borla XR-1's

that launch let the pump run dry? isnt that a common problem with tbss?

Yes it's common. More common once the 60' times get below the < 2.0 range. This pan design SUCKS. The pickup tube is up front and fwd of the tube where the intermediate shaft runs through the oil pan. For the AWD guys the only fixes are the PCMofNC kit, Accusump, or a custom pan from a forum member that makes them. For the 2wd guys, they can go with the tubular crossmember from LeftCoast 32 and AC bracket, and run a C6 pan.

Yeah I just blew up my lq9 about a month ago. Hoping to do something like this just not as extreme. Maybe a little more budget minded like a 408 with stock 317s just ported and polished. Hoping to stay around 4000-4500 with mine. I'm sure it won't work that way though lol.

Are you planning on boost? If not, I would go with a set of 243's and I happen to know of an AI set that hasn't been installed yet. 64cc for $1400 shipped

Hold up, you built a forged 402 but don't have any forced induction?

When's the turbo build starting?!

Lol yep.... I'm a sucker for old school NA, big cammed power. But throwing a 125 shot on it should carry it deep into the 10's.....

Keep in mind.... It's just a daily driver SUV.... ;)

Old school NA is awesome, but a big cam and a heavy truck wont be a great DD IMO

I think you'd really regret not even throwing a maggie on there. Your motor could handle anything a maggie could throw at it plus nitrous. Then you could have better reliability with more power.
