I thought tire plugs were ok? What if I take it to have it patched? It'll be about a month until I'm either getting a new tire or getting a new set.
 
^ this. I jus needed it to last me till I get a new set or another wheel/tire set up. Nope. Lasted 800-100010 miles. Haha

They are only meant to be a temporary fix. This style is what I'm talking about.

This is what we use at work and the proper way to repair a tire.

We go one step further and put liner sealer over the patch when complete. That way the inner liner of the tire will not start to separate and peel.

All depends on how it looks from the inside really. If the tire needs to be replaced anyway and it's not leaking air, fuck it roll out lol.
 
Thats the thing. Plug was put in an maybe 10 miles I was on the side of the road flat. Lol. Didn't leak at all I double checked.
 
Lol. Or it was crappy plug. I was wandering since I still havent gotten my alignment that it may have caused it to wear funny an eat the plug up or something
 
The plug (same rope style you posted) was installed by our mechanics and they only really ever repair tractor trailer tires. They may have fucked up. I'll take it to a legit tire place (NTB) this weekend and have them break it down, get their opinion on the safety of it, and get them to patch/plug if its ok. I'd rather pay $50 to have it done right than pay $300 for a new tire at the moment so fingers crossed.
 
I have a couple of the rope plugs in mine. Been fine for the couple years.





Inb4 my tires blow apart now..




Also had a slow leak going on in one tire. Sprayed soapy water and found it was leaking from multiple points along the inside. Popped the bead one side at a time and scrapped out some wheel gunk. Seems to have fixed

I see that all the time, you'd be surprised how much corrosion can build up on the inside of a wheel.
