Okay so as most of y'all know my truck is right at around 256,000 miles on original 3.73 diffs, 5.3 vortec, and 4l60e. When they go out eventually i do not want to go back stock. what do y'all think would be a good, strong, reliable, and not insanely expensive setup. Truck gets driven at least 35 miles a day so no to heavy maintenece, bad gas mileage truck. I obviously want more power than stock, really just wanting some low end and mid range. been throwing around the idea of a cammed LQ9 w/ bolt ons, 4l80e blah blah blah. i do about 70/30 town/highway. dont really tow much at all. Needs to be very DD'able and not just crazy expensive

Didn't you say your truck was in REP today? I thought that's why you posted this, I was giving you options to fix your shit rather than swap it right away.

lq4, minimal mods, build a tranny for run an 80e, don't let the fools try and fool ya, if you get a reputable builder to build a 60/65e with your minimal mods, you will be fine. That or go 80 and feel good.

Maybe run full exhaust, that's all you need. You don't need to regear, and if you don't, you will have better fuel mileage. If you want full bolt ons and a cam, you are talking about quite a bit of cash, especially with the LQ9 unless you come across a killer deal.

Hunt around for a deal on a LQ9. Don't be afraid if it has slightly higher miles either. If the yard is honest and it is in good shape go for it.

LQ9
TR224, springs, rods
Lts & full exhaust

No need to go crazy if you want to keep costs down. Or just drop in the 6.0 stock and run it.

lq4's can be had much cheaper usually though, which is why I mentioned it. He will really need a stall with that cam, resulting in more money. A decent circle d will cost you $400, plus install. I do have a buddy than can do all the work for you cheaper than most.

Do all install yourself and save mucho $$ :imo: everything I do/have done is always in the driveway  I won't pay somebody to fuck with my shit when my dad and I can knock it out ourselves

True, just suggested the lq9 for the slightly higher cr.

Just make a junkyard turbo setup and run it til your motor goes then swap in a low mile 5.3

If he has the ability, time, skills, and tools then yes, but that is a ton of work as well, he at least needs people with the know-how in order to not fuck anything up, and cost him more in the long run.

Oh yea no doubt, just putting that option out there if he does have the necessary materials available

I know I know, just saying what has been done on a cheap budget. It's tough trying to decide which route to go imo

Thanks guys, and yes I was on REP earlier, pretty sure it was my TAC since I've replaced it's doing good. Only thing about a built 60e is I don't really know of any really good trans builders around here.... The one "reputable" one here said my blackbear tune would implode my trans in the first week, lol
I have a shop here that can do the swap, as I don't have near the tools or know how to not fuck something up. I'm trying to get as reliable as possible while gaining some power. What are some good trans builders around Louisiana/Texas? Btw these are just ideas, as of now my engine trans and diffs are doing pretty good but with a quarter million miles you never know
