Le slicksierra build thread

So tried to paint my flares today was a major fail. Was just going with flat bumper paint but the fronts had something funky going on... The paint literally wrinkled up in a few spots as soon as it hit the flare. Sanded them with 400 grit and pressure washed them so idk. Also there was a few surface scuffs that the paint didn't seem to hide like I thought it would idk if they are deeper than I thought or they are sanding marks.. Maybe 400 was too aggressive? But regardless the rears came out halfway decent just some scuffs still visible and imperfect fender flares look better than shitty touch up paint on the rust bubbles. Will try to respray the front gonna have to use some primer to level them out tho and then try again. Just bumper paint until I can get the funds together to have them professionally done in body color. But right now I have no front flares on and just rears lol. Dem hips

I still have the smooth eBay ones that I got for 40 bucks. Tried to return them and the company came back with we will issue a 50% refund if you keep them. Since the original investment was so low just said fuck it and kept them. Just goes to show tho they must get a lot of return requests because of shitty fitment.

Found these the price is steep but they are already smooth and from a reputable aftermarket company. Lund SX103S Elite Series Black Sport Style Standard Front and Rear Fender Flare - 4 Piece https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CD2RJN4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_KgfgxbH78EXHR

Not sure if I wanna trust the aftermarket again but can't find OEM flares that aren't all hammered up anywhere eBay craigslist nothing

you need to use some paint prep degreaser, and then some adhesion promoter primer.

its the years of armorall or VRT that is making it wrinkle.

That makes sense because that type of product is designed to soak deep into the plastic. Thanks dude

Shout out to Bryan so much this. Used some paint remover to get all the crap off and down to bare plastic. Finish is so much better and more even now. Fronts are done. Rears will be stripped and re done tomorrow then all installed on the truck when the fasteners get here Wednesday

:shake:

its all about chemicals, i play with so many, im waiting to grow a 3rd arm, i already have a third leg :naughty:

Was surprised on how good them came out after being stripped and redone. The uneven ness and scuffs must have been old nasty paint on there because when I used the paint stripper on them and then hit them with the power washer they looked completely different from when I bought them. Dat bare ass plastic

Those r just speakers lol. But would like to do an SA10 in a box and just pull the middle seat and put it there, tired of having people ride in my middle seat anyway... Fuuuu can't shift

So what's the deal with subthump boxes? No good? Cause they make a box that replaced the jump set with a JL stealth box type design for like 1/6th the price

Repost from the as they sit now thread. Plans are in the works with my buddy to buy my current wheels and tires.

Other than that no major changes planned. Been driving er everyday now since my work is only 15 mins away.

Because of this looking to update my audio system and throw some sound deadening in the door because the rattles are ridiculous on rough roads.

Also working on getting super light tint done because I can't stand the green hue of the stock glass. Right now looking at 40% on the sides and if that's not dark enough maybe the same on the windshield or 50%.

Not doing 35 cause that's too much stretch legality wise and 50 isn't dark enough to justify the cost for me so splitting hairs with a 40%

live from the gutter trash.
