took out the tool box and getting the tail gate shaved. how do get the studs out from the cap

probably gonna have to grind the heads off and push it in tailgate, or either try to drill it out? curious to see how the shaved gate looks. i wanna shave my gate but dont like the idea of the bed rail caps butting up to the tailgate with no tailgate cap on.

It does look kind of funny if you don't have a cover or anything, especially on a white truck. I have the bedliner sprayed over the top of the tailgate so it's not too bad but it still doesn't line up perfectly with the bed caps. I don't worry about it on my truck because with the cover on it, you only notice it when its open.

^think what ill end up doing is running smoothed and painted bed caps. if not id shave handle and put a tailgate cap on it which i dont think would look good.

I don't know I like it, but I think if it has bedrail caps it needs something on top of the gate so it matches up better

I really wanna do mine but I think I might try to find a one that has the top cap that is just stuck on(I wanna say 99-02)and not bolted and then keep mine for if I ever sell the truck or anything

IIRC all the Chevy ones had the bolts and the GMC ones didn't. They all still have the holes though but if you're going to put the flat cap on it that doesn't matter.

Hmm I thought the ones that didn't bolt didn't have holes..oh well, I just didn't wanna mess with trying to get the threaded part outta mine

Yeah, all 99-07 NBS tailgates have the holes. Only the Chevys had the little inserts for the bolts.

Gotcha I may just get one and weld the holes up then..
Been up in the air on whether to shave it all the way or leave the cap

This makes me want to shave it all the way

I say do it all the way, doesn't make any sense to me to shave the handle and not the four little holes.
