Alecks' hopes and dreams thread.

Idk if you have it, most of the time it pops up on the gauges, correct me if wrong. If it were me, I would not break into the engine of something I have to drive everyday. That's why I went with the 6.2, so with intake/full exhaust/ tune I can probably easily break over 400hp at the wheels without tearing into the engine. If I were you, and was just really itching for power, I would first off do tune, headers, and gears. Play with that a little, see if it is enough for a while. If that doesn't please you and you don't mind it, go find a POS DD that is reliable and gets good MPG. Now if I had a truck that wasn't my DD I would want it to be retarded. Like if I had the money to have my old truck and my current truck, I would drop a cammed lq4 with turbo and 4l80e and have a ridiculously powerful leveled nbs for the old truck. Key word if I had the money lol. But like I said I would not cam a daily driver. Some people do it, shit I almost did, actually I almost went the route of cam/turbo/engine/trans swap with the old truck instead of cosmetic mods

I'm pretty sure it does have it. At times at a steady speed it drops a few hundred RPMs and feels a bit sluggish when easing down on the gas pedal..

Thats probably just be your torque converter locking up. If you had AFM, your truck would sound like a 4 cyl honda when it cuts off 4 cylinders.

No way an intake, full exhaust, and tune on a 6.2l is easily making over 400 to the wheels.. Not with stock tires and especially not with 33" mud terrains.

:yay: Thank you for link :shake: Still pondering what I want out of it. Might find a beater DD and build it to be stupid fast

Also, I don't think it goes to 4cyl mode, but if it did, how could I tell?

No prob. Not a bad little cam. That's what I had in my 5.3l and it's now in my 6.0l.

I agree with kyle. If you're gonna spend all the money on a cam, it wouldn't be worth it to me to go with one that doesn't need a converter. Hell the converter made a lot more difference than the cam. Don't worry about being clumsy, there's a couple full write ups that walk you through it. As long as you can use simple hand tools it's possible.

Anything in the 22x/22x range will need a converter to drive normal too. And as far as what you need to do a cam swap.. Cam, valve springs, pushrods, valve spring compressor, don't remember what all gaskets I used besides a new timing cover gasket and harmonic balancer seal lol.

Timing cover gasket, front seal, crank pulley bolt, water pump gaskets.

What you think then? 350? I don't know much about whp

350 is a good estimate lol

350 or so on stock tires. Low 300 on your Toyos. Heavy/big tires KILL dyno numbers

I probably make a humble 200hp lolz.... :emo:

My 5.3l with cam, headers, converter, and tune made 268rwhp. That was on the 33" Toyos.
My tuner has the same truck but 2wd. Lowered on 20" TBSS reps. The truck is bone stock except a muffler and his tune. He made 268rwhp lololol. That shows ya how much the tires kill it.

Exactly why I'm going lower/stockish height. Moar racetrok better mpgs win win.

I think it's actually around the 370-380 mark on stock tires/wheels.

Cammed it only made 268?! I've seen cammed 5.3s with bolt ons making like 340rwhp lol

Yeah. Were they nbs or nnbs? Keep in mind the nnbs trucks have the bigger intake/tb. My buddy made 347rwhp with cam and headers in his nnbs on 26s hahaha. Tuner said it was one of his highest hp mostly stock silverados.

How big is the TB compared to NBS?

NBS 4.8/5.3/6.0 have 78mm tb and intake manifolds.
NNBS 4.8/5.3/6.0 have 87mm tb and 90mm intake manifolds.
TBSS tb are 90mm (LS2) and TBSS intakes are pretty much identical to NNBS truck intakes.
