Ok i've done a thread on this before, throwing around engine ideas. To those who dont know, i have a 2003 ECSB Z71, original 5.3/4l60e/3.73's with 261,xxx miles. So trying to get ideas down for when this stuff goes. Im not looking to dump tons into, but i do need it to be daily driver dependable. Questions, LQ9 or LQ4? I will not boost. I'm deciding between getting a low mileage, super nice LQ9, throwing it in with just headers/tune/volant. Or, i can get a lq4 at about any time for probably well under $1000. If i went with that, i would do a DD'able cam, heads, new lifters, etc. I need some input on what to do please, i want to get maybe a little over 400hp if i go with the lq4. Also im clueless on what to do for trans/gears..... Thanks

Re: My '11 CCSB

Haha waiting till I get rims and tires before lift goes on! You need to get him to sell it now

Whatever you get, make sure its 01+.

For best DD status, gas mileage etc I would do lq9. Better driveability over a worked lq4. Just get the basic bolt ons and a good tune. It will be night and day difference.

I've never seen a disappointed 6.0 swap thread. If I could go back and redo it I'd start with a 6.0. 5.3's are what stock, 240hp? And the 6.0's are like 315hp? Do it.

lq9 runs 340 hp stock. Your 5.3 would be probably 280hp depending on year. Thats when it was new, not miled the fuck out. Generally most guys gain 12-15 rwhp with lts on a dyno. Were talking a 80 hp gain roughly at crank
