Important!: 2009 Pontiac G8 GT build thread!

:rofl:

Well, at least BT is being helping and steering you in the right direction. Glad to hear that

It wasn't the DOD actually, the lifters that were fucked were LS7. But I am not sure how or why.

Ohhh really....I must've missed where you said that. I've never really heard of those failing, especially in something as mild as your car. I wonder if they were used and slightly gouged or something to start with

Ls7 lifters fail all the time, some people have good luck with them and others don't. It's 50/50. I wouldn't use them lol.

really doubt they were used. Either they just failed (it isn't uncommon, just not real common) or debri caused them to screw up. Really hard to say.

I'd say it way less than 50/50, considering the amount of cars that come stock, and are "upgraded" to them, and the reports of failures, it isn't extreme.

Oh, well....nvrmnd then. Admittedly, I haven't researched much as far as LS valvetrain cuz haven't needed to, so have not heard much for failures.

I think the argument on hand vs CNC is yes CNC is all matched but hand ported done by someone who is good will be smoother, best would be CNC then good porter goes back and polishes

It's actually the opposite

And I thought you weren't going to do converter jared?
:nice:

I'm not...my cam is spec'd for a stock stall. Don't need one on the DD. Things may change later on, as of now, nope.

Motor still had to come out, it was stated previously, the cam bearings are trashed. Can't do bearings with the engine in the car.

Ahh yes forgot about them cam bearings

I'm not doing forged parts. Trying to save some money. I still have the truck parts for the air ride, need some stuff around the house, and want to take a vacation this summer. So for now, as it sits, we're doing the basics and getting it running. I've already went over my budget.

If something goes wrong, I will cancel vacation and buy a forged iron block and be done. Then spray the shit out of it. And be broke, and sleep on the couch.

I actually enjoy sleeping on my couch more than my bed, much comfy lol... AT least you broke sleeping on the couch at your own house instead of parents :lol;
