Important!: 2001 gmc 2500hd and 2002 gmc 2500hd difference?

I've been looking at some lift kits and the one I've been looking at is the mcgaughys 7 to 9 inch lift kit. The problem is that the kit works on 2002-2010. But I have 2001 gm truck... so what's the difference? Is there something with the front suspension and or drive that is different or what?
