Was the green truck power windows/locks/seats? If so I may want the door panels, wiring, and seats if you wanna get rid of them

Power windows/locks, manual seats. Light gray interior, decent but not perfect shape. I could get some pictures tomorrow (Saturday) if you're interested. The blue truck has power seats, at some point I'm gonna weigh the power seats vs. the manual ones, if there's a significant difference I'll probably swap the guts from the manual seats into the blue truck's seats.

Wow you had the green one for awhile i remember it being stockish on gmfs. I also didnt realize it got so rusty. lol

New build sounds sweet! Surprised you found a decent z71 in GA, i looked for 3 months and still found rusty ones here, or either they have 170-200k miles 10 dents and ripped up seats and want 10k+ dollars for them. I settled for a 2wd dd lol

Yeah I bought the green truck Feb. 3, 2007 haha. Was my first vehicle. The blue truck had 191k on it when I picked it up and it definitely hasn't lived a pampered life, but it's clean underneath which is the most important thing, everything else can be fixed.

So... Good news and bad news.

Good news: I found out why the 6.0 lost oil pressure, it was in fact the bypass valve in the oil pump that was stuck open.

Bad news: One cam lobe is pretty fucked, and there's a significant amount of play in the #1 rod bearing. So it looks like I'll be replacing all the bearings and lifters in addition to the oil pump, and going with a new cam. Also means the heads have to come off. This ain't gonna be cheap but whatever, I get to go bigger with the cam at least.

Cylinders and pistons looked great from underneath though, so I don't see any need to do anything there.

On to pictures.

Some shit in the oil pan:

Seems to be rubber, some seal/gasket material. Not sure from where.

Pickup tube O-ring was perfect:

well, could've been a heel of a lot worse! what cam are you looking at for this one?

Not sure. Going bigger for sure, but I would like to avoid changing converters at this point. I have to figure out exactly what my long term plan is for the truck.

Maybe something in the lower 22x/22x .58x/.58x range. Would be a nice cam and should still work well with your current trans setup

It's Friday night and instead of going out I'm sitting in my bed sketching step-notch designs and trying to remember if I know anybody with access to a press brake. This is what my life has become.

I'm thinking something similar, probably mid to high 220 range (something like a 222/228), but I have to actually sit down and figure it out. Been a while since I've done any engine calculations.

I like how the FTI streetsweeper cam sounds and performs, but it's a bit bigger than that at 228/232 and. 61x/.61x. Still perfect for a 6L.

Yeah that's definitely more aggressive of a cam than I plan on running.

Ordered a shit ton of suspension parts last night, and working on finalizing my notch design, and probably going to pick up a quart of paint this week so I can turn chrome and black stuff blue. This thing should look way different for the show in Carlisle in a few weeks if anyone is planning on heading out there.

Shit's gonna get interesting this weekend.

DJM LCAs, McGaughy's flip kit, and part of the step notch I designed. Also have McG's spindles, and Belltech shocks sitting in my parents' garage, just didn't get any pictures.

Here's a rough idea of how the notch should look.

Also realized I never posted pictures of the truck after I ripped the badges and moldings off, and buffed it. Definitely been repainted on both doors without pulling the moldings, and it's got lots of small issues, but I can deal with that at a later time.

LOTS of stuff is gonna happen over the next ~3 weeks.

:heavy:

Probably will look better than mine lol

Eh, wheels will be "meh" (the black ones off the green truck, they won't be black forever), and the paint on this thing is pretty haggard when you get up close. It's a great 15-footer though.
