loops are what the belt goes through on your pants, notches are how the belt holds itself to the buckle :facepalm:

fun fact, slobberbone (local denton, texas band) has song titled belt notches

I don't think the part that hold the buckle is considered the "notch". Most people do refer to the holes as "buckle holes"...but when you talk about notches, they are usually used in reference as going up or down in sequence of the holes.

Or did I understand you wrong?
 
My 91', just a bolt in DJM notch also welded on the inside. Changing it up soon, bagging the rear on a wishbone setup.
