ITGuy's 2003 Sierra 1500/2500 4x4 RCLB Build Thread

Looks good, I think you need to raise up that bumper while you're at it and remove the spacer. It sucks but even my bumper here in sunny Ca looked like that on the back. Painted by rear bumper inside last year when I took the bed off to do the fuel pump.

Yeah.. it will take me a lot longer to treat/paint everything but it will last a lot longer for sure.
I'll get crackin' on that tomorrow if I can find some supplies in town.

I'm headed back down to the garage to finish pulling the old fender off the 1500. Front end is completely off.

2 questions [I can google the first]
- To raise the bumper up I just flip the outer bumper brackets and add spacers to the inner mounts, right? Or are new bumper brackets the best way to go. I might do that anyway.. even though the ones I sanded and painted are holding up pretty good.

And 2nd - Should I use my 1500's all chrome grill [pictured in logo] or use the HD grill which has black center?
I personally don't like a lot of chrome, but it looks pretty good with the red paint so far.

can you take some interior pics tonight?

Pretty boring interior, but I can snap a few pics for sure.
Anything in particular? It has some dirt on the drivers seat but otherwise super clean.
I need to get a good stain remover for grease / dirt! it was my fault for tossing something in there..

Just curious to see how clean it is and what options it has. This looks like a rare rclb dmax so far. Also, I think you should keep the black insert grille, I never was a fan of the all chrome one. There was just too much chrome on the front end with it, imo.

It started it's life as a cab & chassis SLE1
- pw, pl w/ remote entry
- am/fm/cd
- dual climate control, AC etc
- radio controls on steering
- Push button 4x4

So it has a few features vs. my old W/T interior.
I don't think it's too rare ..although I don't see them for sale very often but it could have been just my timing.

Here's a few snaps. It's dark out and raining, so pardon the quality.

:nice: I rarely see reg cabs with cloth, power options, steering wheel controls, etc. What is that button next to the air bag switch?

The button by the airbag is for the for the top cab lights.
The button to the left of the steering wheel is for the bed light.
Little black box on bottom of the dash is a Draw-Tite brake controller.

My buddy has a rclb LBZ with all those options also. Seen a few on CL also. Just gotta hunt them down!

I'm going to order some treatment and sealer today... just not sure what.
After reading POR 15 results, I will probably go with another Eastwood product,
or something that does't require so much prep.

dont need to with rustoleum.

i just hit it with some paint thinner or break clean, then brush it on. let it dry for 24 hours and bam, looks like fucking powder coat.

what kind of rustoleum is it sounds like its what i need on my frame...POR15 wasn't bad just pricey and made a huge mess
