Photography Thread

Flickr is pretty good about keeping quality. 500px is also a good one.

I actually printed some of my bird photos the other day. Im very happy with the end results. Needed a change up of the scenery pictures we've had up since we moved in.

One from tonight, first time I've used the camera in almost 2 months :nono:

I did end up trying something new here on this one. I ventured into layer selection to bring out the depth and clarity in the clouds while leaving the foreground untouched aside from a few minor tweaks.

And one from earlier in the week. Before these, I hadn't touched it...

I've gotta get my camera out soon. I'll have something to photograph on Friday though once I get my damn truck.

Since Chris is the only one who will care about this.... I traded my Tamron 28-75 F2.8 for a Canon 85 F1.8. Pretty excited about that. New lens will be here Saturday.

Awesome! I love the pictures produced with that lens. Should be a nice addition to your arsenal.

Well guys, my camera died again and this time it's not coming back.

Suggestions on what I should get to replace. It was an old Canon XT with a kit lens and I got a LOT of good pics out of it. Looking for a nice, not over the top spending on a DSLR.

Pros and cons of what you'd buy?

What kind of shooting will you be doing (lots of action stuff, mostly stationary subjects, low light...)?

What's your price range?

More stationary objects than anything. Low light shots and off-road pics. Landscapes and things like that.

I'm not opposed to spending a good bit. But let's try to keep it under 800.

Sam...honestly, THE BEST absolute deal on DSLRs right now is a used 7D ( mk1). I see them on the forums with battery grips for 550 or less. Its has excellent low light performace, 10 fps ( holy balls, its excellent ) and shoots 1080 video. PLus it is built like an absolute tank. Several people have tested them to the extreme and they were out preforming the high end professional bodies. If I didnt enjoy my 50D so much I would sell it and get a 7D in a heart beat.

Or you can be like all the cool kids now and buy a used 5D. But you'll have to buy a flash since it doesnt have one.

I'm a huge fan of buying used, TONS of people buy expensive camera gear and then never use it.

Never regretted any of the used gear I've bought.
This x2.

And x2 on a used 7D. They are an extremely versatile and all around great camera.
