Detailing Equipment, Product, an Tips/Tricks Thread

My grandpa was original owner and he barley even washed it let alone detailed it. But that scares me I don't wanna leave it worse then when I started

Sent from my DROID2

that was an extreme example haha. dont worry too much, i highly doubt the clear is that thin, just keep your pad moving and u'll be fine

I use a dewalt with 8" pads and 3M 3 step compounds. Then give it a hand glaze, call it dunz. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1336204422.885279.jpg
Smooth like babies behind.

That depends if you want to embed the paint contaminants into your paint or not..if you do then dont clay...

I didn't :/ I was short on time and got impatient. Hopefully it didn't cause any harm. I'll prolly re-detail mine mid summer.

just wish I had more time to do any of our vehicles, it takes me like 3 hours from dragging everything out of the garage to finish drying, i've got a pile of adam's stuff and a pc that hasn't even been out of the box yet

how do I clean the pads when I'm done polishing, by hand? throw them in the dishwasher with my plates? let the dog lick them clean?

they make special cleaner that you can soak them in and then rinse and let them air dry.

if you spend the money for good pads its worth it, you can get a few buffings out of them before they become junk.

i got about 4 cars out of my adams pads

sweet, I guess I need to order that shit from adams then

so I probably shouldn't use apc for that?

APC is a little to harsh, and can break down the pads some. Plus it isnt as neutral of a solution, so no matter how well you rinse them out, there will still be some in the pad that will contact the paint.
