Posted below are a few pics of my truck. It has a pretty good bit of mods done to it! Performance and appearance...

I get on these forums and see all these trucks and think to myself, why doesn't mine look that clean, or why doesn't mine look that nice. I don't get it! Is it just because its my truck? and I see other similar rigs and convince myself that I haven't finish mine yet and one day it will look that good.

I am looking for opinions on what needs to be done to get that jaw dropping look! That truck of the month status ( not that I am going for that, but I want that look ). So you be the critics, and let me know what I need to achieve that daaayyyuuumm look. Do I need different wheels? more tint? more paint match? I am drawing blanks, help me out!!!

btw, I don't get offended easily! I know as it sets it looks alright, not awesome, not stock either.

thanks

EDIT: I have the centerline wheel caps, but haven't installed them yet because I am waiting on my new rings to come in..

Personally, I think it looks good as it sits right now. Maybe just replace your headlights and marker lights, they look a bit hazy. Other than that, nothing really jumps out to me as being out of place

Thanks, Maybe its just all in my head! I mean its not a show truck by any means and some of these trucks I am looking at are garage queens.

The headlights/foglights are next on the list to be replaced. The current one are 6 months old but the lowers turned yellow

Give us an example of what makes you 2nd guess your trucks looks.

I think what I am seeing as a difference is most of the trucks I look at and drool over have HD front ends, and 22" wheels. Most have paint matched handles, not escalade handles, and some look a tad lower. Again, I think about it too much I guess.

I could get the HD front end, but it would be hard to part ways with the centerline wheels.

Thanks for the opinions

You just answered your own questions, 22s and HD fronts give you a chubby. Maybe do the HD front and then see how you like it before getting new wheels.

There is a guy that post here and I can think of his name at the moment but he has a ( spiral gray ?? ) 3/6 dropped NBS CCSB on TBSS reps and I love that truck. Maybe its just the color IDK. Then Colyn's truck, but its a tad too low for me, Looks killer, but I cant go that low...

Also painted side mirrors... I guess I didn't pick up all these little things until I actually sat down and looked for the differences... Just when I thought I was just about done modding

Sometimes you just have to find what makes that truck/s stand out to you and see if you think it actually works with what you want.

Thanks for the help. I guess I never actually started considering the difference in looks between mine and what I like.

So the new list of mods :

Fully painted side mirrors
HD front end
Another 1" in the back
Darker tint
Possibly 22s

Another thing I want to look into is a front bumper tuck job. I saw this done on a hd and it looked really good but never seen info on how to do it.

Just when I was thinking about a new cam, ls6 heads, and tbss intake. Hmm power or appearance, tough decision

I am not sure, but I think you might be describing my truck?

Honestly I think that a huge part of it is that it is YOUR TRUCK. I have loved my truck since Austin first bought it, but now that it is mine, I nit pick it. There is just something about the grass always being greener on the other side. With that said, I honestly think if you did some different wheels (or added center caps), it would greatly change the look of your truck. It has some really nice mods and is extremely clean IMO. if you wanted to go further the 06 front end is definitely the best IMO and would really set your truck off.

Yes, I was describing your truck! It's one of my favorite crew cabs out there! I guess you have a point there! I see similar trucks to mine and think, damn that look nice. Then I look at mine and think, wtf have I done wrong here? My rings come in today so I'll get the caps installed tonight! I also tossed around the idea of putting my silverado Texas eds back on ( oem 20s ) but idk. Your truck inspired me to lower mine, there is just something about it!

Anyway, I need new fenders anyway so I guess I'll start ordering parts. Right and left fenders, hd grill, hd hood, then lift and shorten the front bumper, then shoot it and see where I'm at. If I did 22s it would be really hard not to get stingray III's.

The one thing I have done exterior wise that made me really happy was getting rid of the 03-06 tail lights and putting 00-02 candied tail lights on it. That made a huge difference and I get more people asking if I did a 03+ front end conversion on it, then any other mod I've done

I like Centerlines, but factory 20's always looks good to me. I really appreciate the compliments on my truck, but it is all Austin (aka AlwaysSomthin) as he is the one that built the truck. It just so happened to be exactly what I wanted down to drop, wheels, color, interior...I mean it is exactly what I dreamed up in my head as what I wanted...and he made me a deal I had to jump on.

If I remember correctly the Stingray III's in 22's don't have the back spacing needed to tuck? I want to say that they are just a tiny bit too offset to tuck...might be something to think about. My best friend has a set so when I talk to him I will ask him.

I have actually thought long and hard about that. It is between that or some LED tails (as close to factory GMC as possible).

For me some things I notice are wheels, headlights running lights, paint, door handles, front clip. First off wheels, I don't like yours. It's really hard to find decent wheels anymore that aren't popular. Pretty much all there is to run are oem style or billets. If your going with 20s I say oem style wheels. Headlights and running lights are obviously faded. Get new ones and wax them right off the bat. Treat them like paint and they should have a better life span. Paint , detail that thing. It makes the truck look Sooooo much cleaner. Ur going to need a polisher aND a decent amount of.time. even if you don't get them swirls out you'll get some.of them out and the paint will shine better.handles, I say this cause they don't go with the flow of your truck. For me I try to tie everything in through the whole exterior. On my sierra, I have chromed raceline stunnas. So ima have chrome bumper, chrome moldings, esky handles, ideally painted mirrors with chrome cap and chrome rear bumper with paint pads. For you you have everything painted except the esky handles. Not a big deal.just seems like it'd flow a little better with ptm handles. Lastly the front end. Everyone loves the 06 07 clip it's cleans and looks really good ptm on a white truck. You could add to it getting the actual hd bumper cap.which is taller and more fitting on a cc imo.

Keep in mind your seeing pictures of trucks not in person. Pictures don't quite tell a true story. A good edited picure will Make the truck look cleaner then it may be. You might not see dents scratches shitty paint/body work. Overall your truck isn't bad looking imo but can use a littlw work

Good to know about the stingrays. I'll keep that in mind! That would have been a $2000 screw up!

Here is my truck on the Texas Eds with a 2/4 drop and 275/55 oe tires. Also before the esky handles

Wow, hah! Well thanks for being honest! Some of the stuff you said will be covered when I get around to painting the truck. It does have a bit of a flow issue going on, I even notice that! I wouldn't mind going back to chrome bumpers and that may happen when I do the paint and body, or I'll just cm the chrome pull handle. I hate chrome but sometimes it's looks best with certain paint schemes. The wheels are ok! There aren't many trucks running around here with centerlines! Most modders have billets, or oe replicas! I have the Texas Eds but hate running them everyone and their mom has them, that being said if you aren't on some type of billet, you are on some sort of oe 20 or rep. Every style oe wheel is played out here so wheel choices are tough. Even dub wheels are played out here. I am too close too Houston and those dudes over populate played out or popular wheels. I have hear because I wanted a lighter set up and right now I'm sitting at 60.50 pounds with wheel, tires, weights, and caps. My previous tx eds were a lot heavier, I'd like to say an easy 20-25 pounds heavier. Anyway, thanks for the points!
