Picking a gear ratio

I did search first but I haven't found a definitive answer. Well I have a 2001 silverado rcsb with a 4.8 automatic. It currently has 3.42 gears. What I want to know is, what would be a good dd gear for that motor but also for a 6.0?

Need to know a little more, tire size, transmission, what kind of driving you do is all a good start to giving you an answer.

Sorry right now it is running a 245/70/17. It has a 4l65e, mainly in town city driving every now and again it sees highway.

I'd say at least 4.10s but 4.30s is what I would put in it. If you were doing more highway I'd say 3.73. That's a 30.5" tire.

4l60e is what comes stock in it.

It wont kill top end. Itll make the "feel" of power come on alot earlier.

another though is just slapping in a stall converter.

The previous owner swapped it. It has the tb stall.

that trans what maybe 2100rpm highway speed? when that trans blows up youll probably pull more rpm with an 80e.

I did 4.30s with 3k stall no complaints here.

If both engines are stock and will remain so then 4.30s if you're looking to swap in an cam/head/ exhaust 6.0 then 3.73 or 4.10 depending on cam size IMO
