Older I get

Truck looks awesome and I am super jealous of said Poppa Snowbird. It is one of the goals in my life.

Also after looking at the pics, you still planning on dying whole interior black? I think it looks awesome as it sits.

Got it Home today, Import process is all done. Worked with a broker this time around because of the new export laws in the states. They did all necessary paper work and leg work for me for a nominal feel.

The truck is better then expected. Its so dam clean. all orignal everything. No body work, so nothing. We were laughing the entire time while pulling it apart.

Dialed in the engine bay. Some degreasing, some scrubbing, and a hot water pressure washh. followed buy VRT and In n Out spray.

Started on the paint. Needless to say all teh clear is gone. While i was washing it, all the soap was red coming off.

Started a liberal amount of Mr pink and a foam cannon.

Step 1 Was 3m Perfect it compound. Cuts much heavier then most compounds, which i needed to clear up all the oxidation. Paint is very thin, and has rubbed through on a few edges. But on a original paint vehicle of its age, i think it adds to the character. Front clip done. Grilles off to be polished, Silverstar stock glass headlights. Was originally gonna replace all the lenses, but there so mint im going to restore them. The LMC ones don't fit as nice, so might as well keep the OEMs.

Worked away on it this afternoon and night. Got the front end done. Replaced the OEM H6054 sealed beams with Sylvania Silverstar Seal beams(OEM look just brighter) Polished out all the Factory lenses, painted the grille and headlight surrounds black. also started the process of Dyeing the Grey Trim Black. You cna see the front bumper is done in the pic.

Finished out the polishing. Came out great. Paint is very thing, and in places where paint would naturally be thin from application and wear from age it did rub through to primer. But because of the natural patina on the truck, It goes well. Finished with Wolfgang Fuzion 3.0 Sealer.

Gotta finish wet sanding then polish the Taillights. Have the wipers and antenna off to be sandblasted and repainted also

Wow that's awesome how good it cleaned up and call me what you want I actually kind of like the wheels and white letters out on it

Looking good man, nice to see a few nice specimens still hanging around.

What do you use to dye the plastics? SEM?

Is dying process bad? I need to do some pieces in the Caddy at some point.

So the paint is done

Taillights are fiished and resintalled. Also finished dyeing the trim last night. Gotta get pics. Ordered headliner, and carpet dynamat and speakers enroute. Also got new mirrors, window seals, black door locks, and a solid glass rear window comming. After that the restoration will pretty much be done.

o yah i also sold it

SRS its sold. Got paid yesterday. Gotta finish it, sold it finished. Onto the next!

I'm not extremely surprised, seems like you like finding then more than others so you got to find it, make it right and I'm sure you at least made a little off of it. Seems like all should be happy with it.
