I have to replace the heads on my truck nao. I bought a set of 243 Z06 heads and am having them milled down .035". I was thinking of going with the Vinci 236 grind.

I read some stuff on cams and talked with a couple of other know it alls and I was thinking this might be the best grind for me.

2004 5.3L - I still need to be able to tow light loads and am not sure if I want to swap out torque converters quite yet.

WEll without a stall its gonna be a bit counter productive

I run stage 2.5 243 heads from PRC on my lq9, and run a TSP torquer 2 231/234....i would never dare tow with it.

What kind of chassis? rcsb?ec?cc? 2wd or 4wd?

Ya that cam is gonna be too much for towing IMO! I would look at something closer to the TSP 224

That dont sound all that bad, but thats a huge split from I/E

Im running the 215/215 .566/.566 114LSA in my stock LQ4 and it has plenty of low end and alot of mid. I tow alot and use to have a turbo, it makes good power with boost and N/A.

8* is better than a 12* split

Ive got a 212/218 .561/.570 114 in a 5.3 in my stop.. might end up pulling it out and putting it in my 4.8 in the Samurai.
I tend to like the smaller cams since we are working with trucks here and not cars. plus if your not goin with a stall, its gonna be kinda sluggish down low.

I'll probably boost this winter - blow out the bottom and rebuild from block up.

Im not trying to be unique by any means - but Im going to try to do it without buying anything brand new. A horsepower to dollar ratio experiment.

I was inspired by Hot Rod when put 28psi to a junk yard 4.8 before it detonated. They thought it was a 5.3 until they looked closer at the earl pan.

I also ran a comp cams 212/218 trucker style cam in my 5.3 before in my white rcsb.

Great cam for a DD, If you are going to boost down the road alot of guys run the lingefelter cam...

Pretty much what Im doing is stupid. Take a crew cab and try to make it go fast. Like tryin to make up on a fat chick to make her pretty. Close but not quite.

I figured I already have the truck. Its paid for. It needs heads. So I might as well start with what I have. Start building it up. Then get crazy with it a few years down the road - weight loss, roll cage, ect.............

move on to fgt sedan for DD.
