Ok, finally got it unloaded at my buddy’s shop with his tractor. They’ve only got 104k miles on them. I paid $3k. Was hoping to get something a little cheaper, but this was the lowest mile, cleanest thing I could find and it’s from a guy I trust. It’s out of his personal stash, he says he saves all of the aluminum 5.3s for his own builds.

-06 LH6 all aluminum 5.3. Basically an L33 with a goofy oil pan for an AWD axle to go through.
-799 heads
-DOD/AFM so gotta get rid of that
-4L65E

-I’ll need to swap to the truck oil pan, got GM PN# for the whole kit with pickup/dipstick/etc already
-Looking at the Sloppy Stage 2, BTR Stage 4 or an equivalent TSP cam
-Circle D 3000 stall converter
-Gotta decide PSI swap harness+stock computer+tuning or Holley stand alone setup

sweet deal if you plan on driving it a ton. im old school nasty small block person myself, but i also hate wiring.

Yeah I plan on driving the shit out of it so hoping to see some decent fuel economy. Buddy has basically the same setup and gets 20+ on the hwy.

Not to mention small block parts are still outrageous. By the time I built an equivalent 350, I’d be 3/4 of the way to an LS swap and get worse fuel mileage. Plus I love the way LS’ sound. Gonna do LTs and 3” pipe with an X and some Borla or Magnaflow mufflers. Should scream pretty good

Yeah, I don’t have anything laying around and everybody I know has LS stuff.

You can keep those ancient paper weights

Haha oh I know. Small blocks can be made badass. But it’s definitely more expensive/harder to do than an LS. Would rock a rowdy small block fo free though :hinthint:

:bananadance:

You'll be pleased with the headers. I'm so damn happy with mine now that the leaks are sealed.

Heard a cammed single cab 99-02 at lunch. I’m so damn excited. I’ve gotta check and see what crank sensor I have so I can order the correct harness. About to pull the trigger on the cam/DOD delete too. Thinking I’m gonna go with the BTR stage 4 truck cam

Wish I was making the money that I do, but south of the border. The premium we pay to build shit up here is unreal.

Yeah, we hear that all the time from our Canuck customers. Move on down to Jawja! You won’t need a beater or snow tarz!

When researching some good, old school white letters to throw on the rallies, I found this truck, running the tire setup I was leaning toward. 245/60/15 and 295/50/15s. I’ll be cutting my springs some more for sure. This stance is

Welp, the little 305 is dying a slow death. After a new carb, plugs, distributor and some tuning, she’s been running great. I’ve literally been dailying it. 75mph on the way to work, no sweat.

Last Friday, out of the blue, it starts running like absolute shit. Spitting and acting like she’s got a vacuum leak. None to be found, thought maybe I got some bad gas. I put some premium in and some B12 Chemtool. It helped a little, went back to 87 and runs like dog shit again.

Checked for vacuum leaks again, nothing. Carb didn’t just fall out of adjustment. Timing is correct, cap and rotor look fine. Start pulling plugs, 5 looks a little sooty, 6 is covered in a light mist of oil. Ok, not a surprise at this age. Do a compression test and 5 is down to 110, 6 is about 95. All the others are 140-150.

Dad was helping me, we figure my lead foot burned a couple valves in the ole gal lol. Oh well, I’ll drive her to the c10 meet Saturday and then park it at my buddy’s shop until I’m ready to do the swap.
