How To: The Big 3

In my readings there seems to be a wild swing in gauge wire. Some say 4awg others I've seen using up to 2/0 and think I even saw someone using 4/0 :crazy:

Any suggestions?

Jew wanted to see jumper cable? Can post tommorow. As for wire gauge size 1/0 is fine fuck that 2/0 and 4/0 shit that's what u run for your stereo, personally I wouldn't run anything smaller but I'm sure itl work fine

And my understanding was that 2/0 and 4/0 were just shorthand and bigger than 1/0

Shit, I used 0 guage when I did this on the Chevy. Only because I had a 20' roll already lol.
 
So going off the chart I found 1/0 allows for 245a max for chassis wiring and 150a for power transmission. And 1awg 211a max for chassis wiring with an 119a for power transmission.
Considering I'm putting in a 200a alt is the 1ga sufficient or should I go for the 1/0?

I have neither on hand but can get locally($3/lf for 1/0)

My other side question is, does anyone know what the rating is on the factory fusible link? Will the 200a alt blow it out?

Also, what size fuse should I put inline from bat-alt? 250a?

Why did you do those? Any particular advantage or does it really not matter?

I did bat to starter cause I made those jumper cables so the jumpers directly feed starter now basically, and other than the starter most of you power output goes through the distribution box, my starter wire is only 4 gauge though I believe, still a massive improvement over stock, I didn't do block to body cause I kinda forgot about it, and IMO the big power stuff is through the block/frame anyway

All done! Did alt-bat, bat-frame,bat-block,block-frame. Used 1/0 welding wire, fused w/250a anl.

Volt meter barely ever dips below 14v now, AC fans blow better, and honestly it feels like the truck just runs better.

That may be a combo of the 200a alt along with this though. Anxious to see if there's any mpg pick up as well
