I've been running 305/70/17 tires with 3:42 gears this winter on my 05 GMC 4x4. Lately I've been getting any where from 9 - 11 miles per gallon. On average I drive 22 miles back and forth to work. I realize we have that darn winter blend out here, but I was thinking this is kind of on the low side. With gas prices keep rising it's killing me.

Personally I'd go 4.10s. Any pans to lift/get larger tires down the road? If so I'd regear deeper than that.

I had heavy ass 295/70/17 Trail Grapps on my 05 L33 5.3 ECSB with the RC level kit and 3.42 gears. Was getting between 10-12 with both summer and winter blend. If you're gonna run heavy mud tires, I'd definitely go 4.10s

IMO it depends on what type of driving you do, if you are doing a bunch of highway 3.73's if you do more city 4.10's

if you ever plan on running tires bigger than a 33 go 4.10's

It's mostly all back roads to work and back. What's a good brand to look in to?
