Door Panel Upholstery

I just ordered some cheap suade for my truck door panel pockets but I'm having a little trouble getting it done.
My first question is it possible to get the existing carpet off? Should I just go over it? Seems like each little strand is glued
Second is what is the best adhesive to use? I have super trim adhesive but its harder to work with on this project
Any help is appreciated. truck is '97 GMC Sierra RCSB

go over the factory imo. i use 3m hi-strength 90 spray adhesive
