Good idea or bad, seen people cut drop springs a inch or two, if you can cut factory springs, how much??
Damn, found a guy on fsc with 2 inch mcg could cut 1" for 3", for really cheap, he wind message me back though. Was just wondering about doing stock ones
How low are you wanting to go? iirc cutting a 1/2" will drop it an inch. Blackedouthoe and jvoisel(I think) rode on cut coils for a while.
Yes, and Bryant then complained about alignment and ride issues, and then ended up with real parts...do it right the first time. Hell, if anyone can attest to this, it is me.

Springs are cheap as hell, seriously, a great set of drop springs will set you back around $150

Uninstall the springs, cut them, reinstall them, get an alignment that doesnt zero out, realize later on you want a truck that doesnt wear tires fast and seem like it was built by a highschooler, buy drop springs, uninstall ruined springs, install drop springs, then re-align it.

ditto on just getting the right springs to begin with and don't cut the stockers unless you know someone who has done it before and knows what they are doing. I hung on to my stock springs after my drop and just sold them for $100 so I actually recouped some of my money back. It just took some time of them just sitting around.
Ditto on stock coils, I almost sold them a couple times...but decided to hold onto them for the next owner.

The suspension source has their own brand of lowering coils for $90.
I personally wouldn't cut coils just because its too much work for me. I'd rather do spindles to maintain good alignment and factory ride. But if you want to then go for it. Just as long as you don't go too low. I don't see how it would affect alignment anymore than lowering coils would. It will affect the ride quality more than anything. Measure twice, cut once and don't heat them up

and if I were doing spindles, it would be MCG. Also, use our vendors, Suspension Source, Norcal, and Tim have good deal
16" then mcg, for 17" go belltech. Mcg 17" spindles cause bump steer since the tie-rod doesn't stay parallel with the lca iirc. Luckily we have vendors for mcg and belltech on here
