I've got a 99 sierra, and any of the 99's will not unlock the doors when you put the vehicle in park. It cannot be programed and cannot be changed. So starting in 2000 this is an option. I picked up a 2000 BCM this weekend. Is it just a plug and play swap, or is there more to it? I don't want to plug this thing in and other issues come up.

For anyone wondering this does not work. It puts the truck into a theft mode and only runs 2 seconds after starting. Going to make some calls today about getting it programed possibly.

possibly need a tech II
If the wire harness even matches. There were variations between the years. It's hard to find the correct wire diagrams for 99 and 00. I have been looking for some time

Thanks guys, I'll be looking into both of those. And as far as the BCM matching everything else worked, all interior lights returned as soon as it was plugged in. I tried all the stuff before I tried to start it, that's what got my hopes up.

On the older models it's a lot easier to swap bcms since they don't have as much communication between modules. Graystone is correct about there being variations between years but it doesn't really make a huge difference unless it's 03 and up. 03-04, 05, 06-07c are the years of variation. Like when I did the full power conversion on my truck I used a harness from an 04 instead of an 06. This was a no no and lead to me to have to re pin one of the plugs.

Oh you're a member on here. I was looking for a website call that. So is the 2000 BCM able to be reprogramed? I called a guy that used to be a GM tech today, he said he would give it a shot with the 99 BCM. I told him the internet seems to say that's a no go. If I swap the 2000 BCM there in his parking lot can he program in the vin?

Ive done a couple but its been awhile. If I remember right you turn key on set a timer for 10 minutes bump starter an start timer. When timer goes off turn ignition off then on again and wait 10 seconds and repeat 2 more times. Total of 3 bumps an 30 minutes of time after the final timer goes off

Just so everyone is on the same page technically there is separate bcm on a 99 as there is only one computer. And 99 is an odd ball to begin with.

Thanks guys, I'll give this a try the next time I can bring the truck to work and let it sit on the battery charger. I'll chime back in then.

Alright I finally got around to doing this. The relearn did the trick, but I've lost my fog lights. I've been reading and looking like I need to have a deal add the fog light RPO code into this new BCM. When I called the local one today I could tell I was getting the deer in the head light look without even being there. So I'll call around until I can find someone to do it.

The other thing I need to find is the programming to how the doors unlock when using a fob. I would like the program it to where both doors unlock on the 1st button press on the fob. Now its set up to press the unlock button twice. I done this on my old Camaro I'm pretty sure but cannot find the instructions anywhere. Any tips?

Glad it worked for you. I dont think it can be added to the bcm like that. We get ours with the rpo codes for the vehicle flashed for the bcm. We jus program it to the vehicle

Crap so I need to find on that had factory fogs then. I only paid $5 for this one so I'm not out that much. Any idea on if I can get the door to unlock on 1 key fob button press?
