Hey guys! I'm pretty familiar with many forum-owned trucks through following the Instagram account, and Daniel and Alex finally convinced me to create an account. You can almost always catch me picking up parts from the junkyards from Monroe to Bossier and Shreveport, and I do all the work on my truck with my dad's help. I drive a 1996 ECSB 5.7L with 180k miles. Bought the truck in March 2012 from the original owner who was a dean at ULM. He drove the truck back and forth to work everyday so it was super clean and had never seen dirt in it's life when I purchased her. All original and runs as smooth as butter. I've done small, but practical mods such as dual Flowmasters exiting straight by the trailer hitch, back is lowered 2 inches, cleared headlights, bilstein hd shocks(still on backorder), improved speakers with tube sub under back seat, improved sound insulation, electrochromatic mirror with temp and compass, etc. Eventual plans include:
Impala ss 17s
Better street tires
Tune
Cam
Headers
Limited slip diff
Debadge
Demold
Shaved tailgate
HIDS and LEDs
Tint
Other small odds and ends

I hope that I can be accepted into y'all's awesome community, and I hope that y'all can give me advice as I continue to mod.

The day I got her

How she sits now

Thank you all for your time!

Welcome! For tint hit up Shane at West Monroe Tint and accessory. He does great work. Only guy to do our trucks.

Welcome from Shreveport

I have no personal experience modding the 96-99 Vortec 5.7 engine, but from what all I have read about peoples experience, I would save the cam and tune money and save up to swap in a LS 6.0 or 5.3 engine. A 6.0 will respond better to perf mods, but the 5.3 engine is much cheaper and far easier to find. Most junkyard here sell them for $500 or less

Welcome from New Orleans. Make sure to check out Shreveport meet thread.

I am sure the gingers Alex and Daniel will refer you to it. :uhohshrug:

Well that's certainly good to know! I suppose for now I'll just keep it stock and wait for this engine to die of old age before I do a swap of any kind. No point in getting rid of a such a sweet-running 5.7 just yet...

If you go the LS route might want to hit up my cousin at 4wd Specialist and see if he has any 6.0's before the summer when they crush. The older 6.0s are becoming hard to find around here. The 4.8s are more abundant over the 5.3's in our area for some reason also.

Welcome from shreve. Swapping to an LS would be the most efficient way of getting powa. And lowering it will make it way cooler. Lols

Meh. Reeeeaaally don't want to lower it since it's my daily. I already scrape my trailer hitch when backing out of my driveway. Just too impractical at the moment
