I'm looking for some information on putting together an engine that has the roller cam and possibly Vortec heads with the TBI option to keep my truck easier to manage. Since the entire swap is coming from the 'yard I will have the complete upper intake and fuel system less the harness and PCM so I could essentially swap over later.

My main concerns are:
1. Keeping the TH400 transmission
2. Replacing the old R-12 compressor
3. Upgrading the alternator for more current
4. Getting more power from the same displacement
5. Cheap cheap cheap cheap cheap
6. TBI fuel injection '89 (K vin)
7. Vortec engine ~'98 rebuilt by me (R vin)
8. Keeping as much stuff factory on the chassis as possible
9. Decent intake/exhaust set-up (might just keep the stock intake and open the exhaust)
10. Did I mention cheap?

Thanks in advance for any helpful information you have to add.
