bringing this over here, basically the history of my truck

little background, sophomore year of high school, i started making payments to my parents to get this truck, 2006 chevy silverado 4.8 with a 5 speed and 32k miles. My parents bought it brand new from the dealer in 06 with 5 miles on it. At that time it was the only one in az with a v8 and a manual transmission, only option on the window sticker is the v8.

first ever mod was the black emblem and some chrome stockers my neighbor gave me

basically all through highschool i just drove it like a teenager would, tires didn't last too long, and having little income didn't help with the mods. i did manage to enter a contest and win a gift card to LMC truck, and with that i got a grille insert, chrome emblem, carpet kit, and a light bar.
this was the new front end of the truck, i thought it looked cool at the time.

then painted the wheels black.

shortly after that i needed to get new tires, and had saved for some "discount special" wheels and some cheap tires

had to brake that one new tire in the right way :jest:

about this time i joined this forum and started researching go-fast parts. thus my firs upgrade of a volant cold air intake with the ram air scoop, and a flowmaster original 40 series muffler single in dual out cause it was cool to have a super loud truck

sure was dirty under there lol

i also had to have HID's like everyone else

i also managed to pick up some lowering shackles to bring that back end down.

shortly after lowering the rear, i started college (Ford ASSET) and got a job working in a local ford dealer as a mechanic. while in school, i got a set of fog lights, and rewired the truck so the fog lights worked like they would from the factory and disabled the daytime running lights for a full turnsignal.

just recently i had a buddy color match some pieces to get rid of the hideous front end and to make it look a little better, and more of a unique style.

after playing around on some twisty mountain roads with a friend, i decided what direction i wanted to head with the truck. i wanted to make the thing handle with the best of them.

went to discount and had my wheels warrantied out to a different style cause the clear was pealing.

so needing tires, but still being in school i decided just to pick up a good tire that would make it handle better. i went with a 285/60 R17. also removed the annoying flowmaster for a resonator off of a 2013 f150.

most recent performance mod is a hydroboost swap. went to the junk yard and picked up the complete unit with 70k miles from a Yukon.

got it installed and that is where we are today

little more info, about a year ago i ran it at the track, first time ever driving down a track and these were the times.

had the truck weighed, i want to try to get it under 4k lbs and a little better weight distribution then the current 61/39 split

i also wasted money and time to try to get some baseline whp numbers, second gear went way to quick, and 3rd hit the speed limiter at 4650 rpm's and you can see the computer pulling power as it hit.

nothing too performance oriented yet. but the show part has happened :hack:

shaved 3rd brake light cause the damn thing leaked when it rained. still waiting on the roll pan.

one side wet sanded

got the hood all sanded and fixed the dent. very small indentation from a neighbor's kid that lost control of a soccer ball.

passenger side and tail gate completed, ended up filing a claim with paypal on the roll pan, guy stopped responding to my emails and i couldn't play the waiting game any more. so i ordered one from a local shop here. will e here in a couple weeks

roughed in for the day, too hot to continue work. at least its looking somewhat decent from the rear now

got the hitch setup all worked out

along with the trailer wiring

had a hard time finding a smooth bumper cover, so talked to my painter about getting the smoothest textured cover i could find and working with that, ended up coating it in something called slick sand and sanding smooth with 300 grit

last pictures of the ugliness, paint is happening this weekend

pulled off all panels from the dash back, and the majority of things to be removed, going into paint tomorrow morning at 7 am.there will be a few little surprises in the paint...:devil:

lil peak of the paint, 3x6" chevy emblem on the passenger side corner

pictures dont do it justice, i haven't seen it in the sun yet, but it is heavy on metallic

hood and roof are done

still needs to be color sanded, and what ever else is done right after paint

got a properly painted grill this time

the black used is a factory gm paint off of a 08 silverado titanium black

trans mount was trashed, 5 min upgrade.

hotchkis 2" drop springs, these things look and feel way beefier then the drop springs for my dad's R/T ram.

spent about an hour at work just to install the hotchkis drop springs going to put a couple hundred miles on them before i align it.

got my flip kit installed, now sitting at a 2/6

Love the new colour but needs some different wheels now.

thanks, no color matched mirrors, IMO these are too big to do a solid match, if they had caps i would have done them.

since a couple of my buddies have started calling my truck the smurf, i got the plate to go with it lol

looking for a good price on TBSS 22's, any one know where to get them for cheaper then $1099 that is a local price for me.
