I have a 1973 GMC Sierra classic short bed 4x4 with some wood trim on the center console. It also has heating and air conditioning, power steering, and am fm radio. I am just wondering how rare my truck is and how many were made. I’ve searched far and wide for any information but can’t seem to find anything.

Nice truck! Unfortunately, GMs records older than ‘78/79ish were lost if I remember correctly. Those are conversion seats, not OE. They were either added by the dealer or a conversion company.

I’m curious, is the truck titled as a ‘73? Those are ‘77-later door panels and dash bezel, as well as the headlight bezels and grille. Those headlight bezels weee ‘79/80 only. Either way, cool truck!

I’m pretty certain it’s titled a 73 would have to double check but I’m pretty sure it is.

Also, that hood is ‘79/80 only with that style line on it. I work for Auto Metal Direct and help with R&D of products plus have an ‘85 myself, so I’ve done a ton of research on these lol. Not trying to be rude, just curious more than anything.

That’s a pretty clean rig. Here’s a little back story on how I got my truck and why I know so little about it. So my father got it from his buddy about 18 years ago after he passed. He blew up the 305 in it and its been sitting for 17 years funny enough it’s been sitting for my whole life. So I put a 350 in it this summer and I am slowly restoring it but it is also a learning process since I don’t know squat about sheet metal and body work and I have enough mechanical knowledge to get and keep it running.
