Brett what is it that you do exactly? The skill and knowledge you have in this field leads me to believe you build trucks as a full time job lol. I'd send my truck to you before a big name shop any day :imo:

From what I understand building trucks is a side gig he does in his garage and knowledge learned was from building his truck a couple times but could be wrong

Tyler got it right mostly. I built my first bagged truck when I was 15. Learning as I went what is good and what isn't. Read everything I could get my hands on and listened to older guys. Used my vehicles to try new ideas. then attended UK for Mechanical Engineering and got my bachelors along with a minor in Mathematics. I've used those skills in my design process and understanding how suspension is suppose to work. Again, using my own vehicle to try new ideas. its been 11 years Since I built that first s-10. I'm a Engineering supervisor for Precision Machine & Maintenance. It is my full time job, and I own Ross Fab Works as my own Licensed small business. I am also a dealer for Accuair.

The dream would be for this to be a full time job, but with a Wife and 3 kids, I have to be sure the bills will be paid and the we can live the same lifestyle we do now.

So I've decided to start a build thread for this customer's truck.

2006 intimidator SS
The trucks came 2wd in this year and they are torsion bar suspension.

Parts
Unparalleled Customs front kit
Unparalleled Customs 3 link
Accuair elevel with ilevel
Dual Viair 480's
8.5 gallon tank
Built to lay 295/35r24's

There were some extensive modifications to the front kit in order to get it to function properly but that was known beforehand. I was doing this to help Cody with setting up a kit for the torsion bar customers out there.

Here some pics

Unfortunately he decided to pass on a deal to get my old bonspeeds from the Avalanche, but I did take a pic

Do you know what the backspacing was on the black KMC wheels? I have them on my truck in a +35 which according to the chart on here should be fine. HOwever the way the spokes are raised off the lip makes me nervous. I wont be very low but dont want to put weight in the bed and tear them up!

KMC KM690's only come in +15 or +30 for sizes 22-26. these were the +15mm option. however, I narrowed the front track width 2" overall and the rear 4" overall. you will be fine if you're just going to lower the truck.

Mine are +30. They offer blanks in +35. Thanks. I've tried to hold a flat edge up to the lip and make sure it clears but that's hard to do accurately. It doesn't seem these wheels are very common either to find comparisons.

only in 20's are the blanks +35 just like you can order them. the 22 & 24 blanks are +15 or +30 and the 26" blanks are +30. that's straight from KMC. that's beside the point though because most people are not going to be able to machine their own lug pattern and hub bore anyway.

the spokes aren't hanging over enough to cause issues because you won't be rolling low enough to tuck them anyway if your just static dropped. if you tucked that far on a factory track width control arm setup, you'll be destroying the fenders or making 5 point turns to get in and out of places. you won't be rubbing the wheel on the bedside either, but again if you're tucked far enough to get to the wheel in the rear, you'll be needing to tub the bed anyway to keep your tires from hitting the top of the factory tubs.

I'm very unclear on the look you're trying to achieve.

My biggest concern is having the bed loaded with too much weight. Whether it's dropped or at factory stance. I get a load of sand about once a year that squats the truck to the bump stops and just want to be sure I'm safe. Thanks for all your help.

This truck is perfect in every way. The fact that it's a true intimidator makes it all the more better :imo:
