Plan on doing this next, what can you guys tell me about the swap, from what i understand 05s come with a bigger radiator that will bolt right in, as well as e-fans.

few questions
1. what 05+ trucks do these come in, 1500s 5.3? or just 6.0 trucks? i'm assuming 6.0s were the trucks with oil coolers not 5.3s?
2. how big is the bigger radiator?
3. ls1 fans are the same as the truck fans?
4. do the bigger radiators off the 05s have a drain plug, cause i'm kinda dissapoint i have to pull the lower hose off just to drain fluid...

dont hold me to this but...
Im pretty sure my 05 5.3 has a oil cooler.

I know i have the radiator, AC condensor, transcooler, but if you look at the radiator on the side of it I have what looks like a small oil cool about 2 inches wide all the way to the bottom of the radiator. Was told it was the oil cooler, But meh not sure.

you can get the 34 in rad on amazon for like 200 oem repros (dorman FUCK TYC) are 165 and harness is 100 from black bear....

or you can get LS1 fans for about 50-100 ebay/clist/yards and the harness is also 100 bucks from bb....

Harness between the 2 is teh same/ connector is differnt thought. If it was me Iwould just do the 05+ and be done with it... however I had 5.3/ls1 hot cam and LS1 fans and was fine... but 6.0 I've had isses so I just went w/ 05+ setup.

05+ silverado/sierra 1500 w/ any v8 will have the efans/34 rad. Some random trucks 04 and below got the 34 rad but ALL got clutch fan.

whats the matter w/ that... the shroud would cover past your rad......but the fans themselves would still be on the rad itself..

The LS1 fans don't cover the entire rad and there is a gap on either side... and some people build a shroud for them.

I don't see what the problem would be w/ having the shroud go past your rad...?

As far as what all trucks the larger radiator came in, I know them came in all Tahoes, Yukons, and Suburbans if they had a 5.3 and rear AC. ALL burbans came with at least a 5.3. Some of the base Tahoes and Yukons came with a 4.8 and I honestly don't know for sure if those had the larger radiator. I know for sure they do if its s 5.3 AND has rear AC. My Suburban is a 01 with a 5.3 and the 05 fans fit like a glove on my radiator. All the mounting tabs lined right up and so did the bolt holes. There are two empty threaded holes in the radiator support that line up perfectly with the 05 fans. Just screw bolts in and you're done.

Matt, I am not talking about the shroud, the actual assembly of the fan protrudes passed the radiator with the 05+ fans iirc. So, what I am trying to say, how much does extend passed?
