What I'm saying is there are instances where it would be better for me vs an auto. Like if its flat enough I can take foot off the clutch and brake and not move, and always downshift at least one gear when slowing down instead of just jamming on the brakes. There would be some benefits I'm not saying it would be without problems but it would be easier

Mine cost probably 800 since I did it myself. That's cam pushrods springs and all gaskets. Plus another timing cover since I broke mine :fp:

Yeah my cam swap wasn't very expensive either. no need for a new timing chain either. 100k on my engine when I did the swap and the chain and gear showed very little wear. Gotta love factory roller timing chains

So I have 166K, I spoke to Gannon today via text message and he said I should not need new lifters so that leaves Cam, Springs, and potentially pushrods. Idk at what point you need push rods and I'm guessing ill need some assorted gaskets too

you need to do pushrods, gasket kit, spring compressor, or borrow one, at 166k prob should do timing chain. ls2 timing chains are like 40 bucks. id also do oil pump since youre there and 166k. ask ol boy kyle about a failing oil pump lol

Like I said man, that's what I've always heard about the lifters. And also I wouldn't skip springs an rods, go ahead and replace them while you're doing it. Might as well do it right the first time.

theres no color on them. just gray springs. they are off an ls2, but ls2 and ls6 shared the same springs if I read/remember correctly.

ill look at the springs and see if I can find a part #
they have what looks to be an orange stripe on them

I think those are the "yellow" ones that are rated for higher lift. I know you can only go to .550 with "blue" springs
