I have a 2003 Silverado, the exhaust work on it now is, true dual, no mufflers, stock cats, and it has 2 1/2 pipe all the way to 4" rolled tips. I am looking into getting an aftermarket camshaft, and I have no clue what to look for. I like a deep tone, and loud. I don't like the sound of a truck with no cats and no mufflers. Can someone help me out. Thank you in advance.

What exactly are looking for? Is this you daily? If so I would say a 212/216 or 216/224 trucker cam. You running a stall converter? If you're not or not planning on it I wouldn't go any bigger than the 212/216 imo.

The bigger the cam the more you're lose down low, the stall will help with that. Don't buy short tube headers, go with long tubes. Check out cal speed, I know a few members have them and said they do just fine for the price.

Long tubes will give you a big increase in flow. Shortys don't do shit IMO. Like Gannon said if you're gonna use it as a daily don't go too big. If you want to go bigger than a 212/216 you'll need a high stall torque converter. Basically what that is this, when you're at a stop and floor your truck, stock the rpms will jump to 1650 then will pull hard. A higher stall means it will raise to 3000 then pull just for example. I daily drive my truck with a 224/230 and a 3200 stall. Now some might say that's bad for daily but I love it. You do get pricey if you go with a stall though. 212/216 would be my recommendation if you're not doing a stall. If you are then we have a lot to figure out lol.

Thanks, I think in the end if I didn't get a cam that gave me performance and sound, I'd be disappointed. I think I will want performance as well. But it's not the main priority. But I would like a little more power.

You could try google some things!

I understand it's a forum, here to help, but you could also try looking up the info we post.

The headers you posted are useless. Your stock manifolds flow pretty close as the shorty headers.

Try reading over threads already posted here. We have a search function for that very reason.

A lot of us on here that have long tubes roll calspeed's.
Including myself and the gentleman above me, and the guy above him. They are quite reasonable on price, and they get the job done nicely.

If you have 4wd you will need to slightly sent a part of the Y pipe to clear the front driveshaft. Mine cleared, but I made some clearance for good measure.

4x4 and cal speeds is pretty much a waste, so many people have had issues with fitment. There are threads with guys making them fit, but it seems most have given up or yanked the front driveshaft.

More people have had better luck with LPP headers and 4x4. Or higher end brands like ARH, kooks etc

Call or email Brian Tooley, he is a vendor here, but his business keeps him busy and off forums for the most part. He can spec out a good cam for you.
