Hello CGM I am currently replacing knock sensors. taking the intake manifold off I have noticed that I have a shit ton or carbon on the intake manifold and the intake runners on the head. Its only in the runners. from what I can see behind the valves looks good. I have never sea foamed before cause I am too chicken shit. Im not that worried about the oil and fuel as much as I have used fuel treatment before and ran synth for the 3 years or so but I have never attempted to clean the intake of the motor. So just do et or is it really not that necessary. this is one of those subjects where its pretty evenly divided between yes and don't touch it lol. Thoughts? Its a 2000 so it has the EGR bullshit which is probably the cause of all the carbon in the first place

i think its a matter of how well its been maintained as a whole for those who have issues. From my findings the ones who have issues after either do it wrong or just bought the vehicle and previous owner probably sucked at maint.

it CAN foul out plugs, foul o2 sensors, and screw up injectors...will it do it every time? No.

Both of these, especially what Sam said. Since you take pretty good care of it, you should be alright, might havta change plugs. Worst case scenario is plugs cats, but that only happens when there's ungodly amounts of large carbon chunks that break off and stay together. I never did it on my truck, but I did it on my Cobra with no ill effects

Well my grandpa had the truck before me he was the second owner. As an old timer he was a take it to the shop dumb the Dino oil in it. Still dealing with the fall out of his mechanic. Rounded off brake bleeders ftw

I'd plan on changing plugs afterwards at least if you haven't done them in a while. If they're relatively new, find some old ones and throw them in just to prevent your good ones from getting messed up

Exactly Jared, I wouldn't worry about the cats. Honestly Matt, I think you'd be fine, just plugs if anything. How many miles are on it?
