i have been tossing around the idea of getting rid of my 05 ecsb for either an 11 or 12 ccsb. now really sure which one to go with. i have a budget of around $25k. which most of them are right around there locally with anywhere from 40-60k miles

is there much difference in the 2

does the economy fuel management now come stock on them or is it an extra feature/ is it worth it

same with remote start? is it standard now?

are there any major cons to either one? ive heard the 10s have terrible oil consumption.

i see some of the 2012 5.3s are saying 21 on the highway and others only 18 on the spec sheet?

I've had a nnbs 5.3 and a 6.2 the 6.2 got around 14 no matter what (lifted leveled and stock) the 5.3 got alright mpgs. I hated the 5.3s 4 cylinder mode. Got it tuned out asap.

The remote start isn't standard

Don't just get the AFM tuned out, plan on spending the money to replace the lifters, even with it tuned out the lifters will still fail. And absolutely go 6 speed over the 4, they drive better, get a little better mileage and it's a stronger trans.

My truck is a 2009 CCSB Z71. 5.3/6L80/3.42s

Bought with 108k in 2013, just hit 198k. Had the AFM tuned out and the typical Blackbear tune done around 140k and eats no oil. Winter mode is stock wheels with 275/65/18s and I average 15.5 mpg and I'm pretty hard on it. 80+ on the highway and I don't take my time on red light roads. My summer wheels are factory GM 20's with a 33/12.5/20 MT and I'm usually around 14.8ish mpgs.

Leveled, Airraid MIT tube, and a K&N filter. Original spark plugs and all that shit. Unless the guy before me replaced stuff, it's all original.
