Truck is
2003 gmc sierra rcsb.
I have 4.8 with built trans.
Efans and 34" rad waiting to go in and will be doing headers also.
I dont really know a whole lot about cams/stalls. Thought ill do it when i do fans and headers.
Suggestions?

TSP 220 since you are stalling, about a 3600 Circle D, email or call Brian Tooley...that is the best way to contact him, see what he says.

I have a 237/242 .601/.603 112 Cam which is the TSP MS3 and 3800 stall. I dont care about the stall since it isnt my daily driver. BUT if I had to drive it all the time I would do a 3200 stall and a smaller cam for sure. Long tube headers?

Yes, im trying to order cal speed long tunes w3in ypipe but its out of stock.

Oh and idk if it mattered but i have stock 3.42 gears.

I would do a 212/218 or 216/224 with a 3k stall, nothing bigger :imo: Since it is your only vehicle, and its only a 4.8. I feel like the 220 is to big for my 5.3.

How do you drive the truck? are you always into it? grandmaing it? Do you take it right to red line when your pounding it?
Cam selection is very different for each person, it dpends greatly on how you want the truck to run and where u want to use the power

Im pretty rough with it, i drive the shit out of it sometimes

Well if you drive the shit outta it I would rec something around the 224ish range for a stock 4.8. You'll need a whole cam install kit(rods, springs, retainers). Lots of other stuff that can be done while your in there too.

Doesnt make sense to me to buy a cam and buy all the parts for heads...might as well just put heads on(that way you can repalce lifters(stockers love to fail in stock power levels). 2300 will get you built prc heads loaded with dual springs etc. Cam with install kit is $800, heads are 2300, headers will be $400. = 3500 for probably like 320 wheel. O plus a good circle d triple disc will run you $1000 bucks

on a 4.8 i would keep the money for cam and spend 5k and put a trick turbo or kn\b racing setup. Will make probably 100+ more rwhp, and be better on fuel when out of boost. Cost is 4000$ plus injectors and exhaust hookup. 4.8's love boost, and lots of happy customers running 425 wheel conservatively

^That's my plan Brandon. I don't see the point in spending that much (3.5k)ish when for not too much more someone can go turbo. Sure it's more work to do and whatnot, but the power gained to dollars spent ratio is much higher.

Plus I just want boost :crazy:

So your saying i should do efans, headers and tune. And not to spend money camming it.

It's a toss up man. If all you want is a little extra bump and a nice sound then go for it and forget doing heads. Just do cam, springs, rods, headers and tune. But if you know you'll want more power, save the money.

personally i would run a turbo. Headers are not needed on a turbo build.

I see alot of guys tossing cams in stock engines and stock stalls and its a total waste, they just want it to sound cool. Which i understand, but in the end is useless. If your gonna do a cam, might as well do all the other stuff i listed. Then that at point your the same moeny at a nice Turbo setup. Fuck even Tricks stage 2 kit is only 3300.

I love my built lq9 setup, and runs great and is mean as hell. However, I could have saved a few grand easily and make probably 100 more rwhp on my stock 5.3
