So I'm going to be in the market for another nbs truck here soon, with a budget of about $7500 max. Looking at 99-07 4.8/5.3 trucks but preferably an 03-07. I'm partial to single cabs as far as looks and performance goes, but I've been told I'll hate it after driving a crew cab for so long. Any input on this?

Also on want to discuss ALL of the differences between a 99-02 truck and an 03-07 truck. I know the main things are the front clip, din size, and 99-02 are DBC vs DBW. Also know 05-07 trucks have e fans which is desirable. Which truck would you guys prefer and why. 99-02 trucks are far cheaper...

Why not keep what u have? Would hate going from ccsb to rcsb. Going to an ecsb from a ccsb would be bad enough..

I prefer 99-02 bc I'm partial to 01/02 HD front ends. 99-02 are usually a lot cheaper. 99-02 has 4 wheel disk brakes. 99-02 usually have DBC which is much better/nicer to drive imo.

03-07 have a lil better interior. Fancy DIC, factory double din dash,, etc.

Efans are like >$200 so not a deciding factor for me. I'd buy whatever you get a REALLY good deal on.
Actually, I'd keep ccsb lbz

I've gone back and forth about 10 times, and decided it'd be better for me to get out of this truck now. Injectors along with cp3 pump are bound to go out at anytime, and both of those are pretty expensive for me to replace. Transmission would need to be built for me to run anymore power than stock, and even if I pulled it and built it myself it would be $3k+. Pretty much I wouldn't be satisfied with this truck until I replaced injectors, cp3, and rebuilt the trans, and all those together is what the truck cost me. Not practical for me to keep through college, when any of those 3 parts could take a shit and I wouldn't be able to replace them.

Here's how I look at it. In an LS based gasser, I could send a rod through the block, and be out of ~$500 for another long block and a weekends worth of work to replace it. In an LBZ Duramax on the other hand, if I send a rod through the block, I'm out of ~$10k+ for parts, and have absolutely no idea how to fix it. Same goes for transmission, 4l60e rebuild is about $600 + core, Allison 6 speed rebuild is about $3500 + core.

Another part of this not many people know, is that my parents bought me this truck, and are making monthly payments on it. I feel like a shit head worthless child having my parents make a car payment for me, so if I can sell this truck, pay it off ($7k), and buy another truck with the left over money I'll be way happier with myself as a person, and save my parents a lot of money.

I had a '00 sierra first, now an '05 silverado, and I can say I'll never own a 99-02 again. There are soo many little details in the interior that are upgrades (I'm also picky), along with the much better front end styling (though the 99-02 Chevy HD fronts aree dope). I feel my silverado is 100x smoother driving/riding, 100000x more comfortable, and all around better than the 00 sierra

I've have had both, and personally love my RC as well. Don't shy away from 99-02 trucks. The interior is just fine, minus steering wheel controls.

Any way you could elaborate more as to why you prefer each one? Really wanting to make sure I make the right decision with this next truck, as it will be one I'll have for a long time.

When I used to DD my crew cab I would just leave shit in the back lol. It's way bigger and longer and harder to take some places. I also didn't want to DD it since it is so low mileage and nice. The reg cab gets places easily off road on job sites. I also don't give a shit how dirty the reg cab gets since I built it. It's faster to clean, quicker, easy to clean inside and a still have a 6.5' bed. It's more fun to drive.

Right now if I had to get rid of one I'd keep the regular cab probably, buts that also because the crew cab is so big and don't want to DD it anyways. No kids, etc.

I never really drove the crew cab stock. Not even a couple days after I bought it I tore it apart and lifted it lol.

Maybe if it was stock height it would be different. Plus I never have to haul assholes around and trash my interior because there are only 2 seats in reg cab.

#1 reason why I love my reg cab.

Easy to wash, clean, park in tight spots, etc. All around fun trucks imo.

Only downside is, if you don't have a bed cover for trips with more than just yourself, it gets cramped with you plus someone plus stuff. But it's doable.

I'm sold. I can get over the cramped part, I'm like 5'6" and 120 lbs  Now just to get this truck gone and find a clean RCSB truck with a v8.

Word, meet in the middle with ecsb. I couldn't stand having only a cab behind my seats. I throw stuff back there all the time

Driving people isn't an issue at all for me. I'm usually the drunk one so dd-ing and dealing with drunk people isn't a problem. I offer to drive around places sometimes cause I love to drive, and my friends aren't dicks to fuck up my truck. Also, they don't like how loud it is and hate my music, so they offer driving anyway usually :prawfit:

i might get into a RC.

In the end it will save me money i mean i love driving but anywhere we go i drive since my truck is the most comfortable truck and its decent on fuel so we take it everywhere.

and i mean in the last year:

2 - 16 hour trips this summer
1 - road trip to san fran that was 38hrs of driving 3600km
4 - 4 hours trips to whistler
3 - 12 hour trips snowboarding
1 - 26 hour trip snowboarding road trip

its not that big of a deal i mean i really like driving but in the end i think i did about 10,000km 6,200 miles on just roads trips in one year.
that's a lot of k's.

and the RC will be awesome

Ec is the worst for a few reasons:

Cab noise & cab flex due to no solid b pillar
Most susceptible to rocker rust & rot
Has enough room for 5/6 people, but it's cramped as hell.

I'd go cc if you want the extra room. RC if you don't see yourself driving all your friends everywhere.

How big is the difference in ride quality between a RCSB, ecsb, and CCSB given they're all half tons on the same suspension set up? Inherently the shorter the wheel base the harsher the ride, but how much of a difference is it in a NBS?

All of them at stock height, my cc rode great it also had the lowest mileage of all my trucks when I got it. My RC was good too when it was stock

Off topic, but what kinda mileage are you seeing in your truck? On what tune and who tuned it? Mine gets piss poor mileage. 15-16 on the highway babying it, 12-14 around town.

I DD'd a rcsb for 5 years and loved it (mine was an obs) easier to park, a lot more fun to slide around in because it wants to come around on you and RCSB are the best looking trucks. After that I DD'd an 04 CCSB and the extra space was ok but just seemed to accumulate more random shit, during hunting season it turned into a 2 seat truck because of all the shit I would keep in it. Personally even with a wife and a kid I'd rather daily my old rcsb than my ccsb.
