I have the bright ass blue screen on my OEM nav. Is there any way to do an update, or mod the screen to the newer OS with the black backgrounds? Dimming just isn't enough at night.

Punch the screen as hard as possible, should dim it plenty. Honestly I would just try calling a local dealer ship to see if there is an update or not.

The second half of this is the best bet. They should be able to flash it up to date.

If that doesn't work...punch it.

Just have some light window tint cut to fit over it. I don't understand why ya'll have so many issues with lights being too bright. You must like the stock halogen headlights too because they're dim?

I hate when my screen is too bright. I have mine all the way turned down on my pioneer. It's hard to focus on the road when there is a glaring screen in the dash.

I do like the tint idea. Just don't know how it would be with fingerprints. It would probably drive me nuts

My pioneer had a "sleep" button where the screen would go black, then just tap the screen for it to light up.

Yep, mine does too, but I don't want the screen off, it's fine how it is all the way dimmed out.

Imagine an LED flashlight shining into your right eye while you maneuver through traffic.

Thought about the tint but I daytime becomes an issue, as well as touch screen capabilities diminished?

Does it not dim with the rest of the interior lights? I don't have an OEM unit but mine goes into night time mode when the headlights come on and its cuts the brightness down by 75% easily.

If its as bright as you say it is, a little tint shouldn't hurt it during the day, and TS work off of heat transfer so you it shouldn't effect it at all.

No, it is not. Either way I don't want to dim the rest of the interior lighting, just the NAV screen. I know that would solve my issue but it's the principal.
