I wondered if anyone else has any tools that they use that weren't meant to be automotive tools but work good.

The main thing I have that I use are curved medical forceps. I have 10 pairs of them, fiance works in surgery and the none of the doctors like that style so they were going to throw them out so I got them(yes they were new). They work awesome on spring style hose clamps and for pinching off vacuum lines and soft fuel lines. Also if you have multiple pairs like I do you can open the clamps and lock the forceps and just leave them until you need to put the clamp back.

T pins work great for backprobing weather tight conectors too, can get 100 at office supply stores for less than $5 most of the time.

I also like to use bailing wire(same thing as mechanics wire) or small bungee cords to hold up brake calipers and to hold hoses/harnesses out of the way.
