So I see people retro their Denali heads. What's the point of that? They already have projectors in them, are the stock ones just not as good as others? And what do you need to retro them exactly?

The projectors from the retrofit source offer a much better and focused cutoff than the stock projectors. The stock ones still wash out hids and spread too much light causing glare.

You'd need new projectors, relay harness, high beam harness, adapter plates for the new projectors, hids and ballasts.

Or you could just buy mine for sale in the classifieds that are plug and play

light output is much better. i would do like you plan though thats what i did. ran stock with cleared for a while then put the better projectors in.

I did the same. The difference is you can actually see where you're driving with the retrofit, the stock projectors with the stock bulbs are worse than the original lights imo, and adding hids to halogen projectors really sucks too, they spread all the light around.
