So the chrome had been peeling and a couple spots, just a few small spots, then I decided to pressure wash it and strip it all off. End result colormatched grille

Dude where's my grille?

Looks better then a primer grey grille, I'll be ordering a billet aluminum bowtie and grille insert in a week.

Theres a few runs in it which revealed black lines but after multiple coats it covered up easily and its hardly noticeable!

$80 worth of materials (60 for paint)

Neat little sprayer makes any paint into an aerosol

Found my next mod. What did you prime with? Did you have to scuff the plastic? Clear coat?

Stripped chrome layer with high pressure pressure washer (careful if you use a non carwash one (Example if you have a higher pressure on of your own) it can strip the clear off the truck. Just stripped it with a pressure washer, let it dry fully, peeled the rest of it off the edged (careful this shit can slice your fingers) then made sure there wasnt dust on it, didnt scuff it or prime it, just made sure it was clean and sprayed it, didnt want to sand it or scuff it bc I didnt want scratches to show through, didnt clear it either.

I've had bad experience with painting over chrome without sanding and clearing. I did the same thing you did and it held up for a couple years but started chipping off then peeling straight off.

looks awesome !! i would recommend clearing it to give it the same shine as your truck seeing as in the side pic it looks semi dull compared to you truck paint.
