Okay so im looking into getting a cam for my truck. Engine Specs: 5.3l/4L60e/3.23's - Mods: BlackBear Tune, K&N FIPK, Bassani Exhaust/Transgo Vette Servo... Im looking for something that will be a good DD cam/stall but has good bit of power. Dont want it to kill mpg completelly but alittle will be fine. I want to know what you guys will recommend, then I can get a price on everything and see what im looking at price wise.

Future mods: LPP Headers, 3.73 Gears, HD2 Shift Kit

No. Thats why I said a good cam/stall I will do both at same time... Anything else that will need to be done or that will be essential for this mod?

I'd say for a stall go with a 3200. Cam wise, my tr224/224 .563/.563 112+4 was a good cam. But I know there are others on here that know alot more about performance than me so I will let them answer.

Do headers/gears first.
Im going with the TSP 224R
and a circle D3200 when i get around to it.
Waiting for the money to get right.
Still i want to do my headers first.

224/230 58x/59x 112+4 with 3400-3600 yank and a nelson performance tune! You'll still get 17+ when you can stay outta it!

11 6.2 can vouche for ny old red truck it ran its lil ass off!!! 13.5@102 with stock trabs and 3.42 on a soft tune.
It was a 220/224 536/536 112 comp i choice the low lift route because i didnt want all out... NEVER BE AFRAID OF LOW LIFT CAMS THEY MAKE JUST AS MUCH IF NOT MORE THAT 58x LIFT CAMS. If you want deep explanation pm me...

Also try the vinci trucker cam! Shawn fron ls1truck used it and wow that truck tore ass against cammed 6l trucks!

Also pat g can custom soec you one for you or geoff at eps, but they'll kinda low on your first set up sometimes! Dobt think it wont work. And dont be afraid of a higher stalling converter 3400+ if they are tight single disk they have excellent street manners... my 4k in the saab before the 3600 was super street friendly as well as the 3600... if your in the dfw area check out phx transmissions 60e-70e converters they are priced right abd on hundred bucks for restalls! Hes outta weather tx. And big time in the tbss world!

Colyn, go ahead and get your gears, headers, and shift kit first. But while your putting in the shift kit, you may as well put in the stall. JMHO.

Being a crew cab, get a nice triple disc 3200, probably slip to 36,3700 when you flash it id imagine. Along with a TSP220 or 224 with your perferrred LSA will work nice and sound great in a CC.

But if you don't have Longtubes, and proper gearing its all gonna be a waste. Def look at gears, Long tubes, then servos, stall and cam.

I would rec a Ported oil pump, Ls7 lifters, and com cam trunion upgrades for the rockers too

I would recommend a much more modern design camshaft than alot of the typical 220 or 224 low lift designs you commonly see people discussing.

These days you can make 10-15 rwhp more with the same idle and drivability using the newest lobes.

Our most popular 5.3L (NON DOD Lifters) camshaft is our CSP 53B "Black" camshaft grind camshaft 223/227 - 610/.614, 115 LSA + 4

We've commonly seen 375 rwhp on many 5.3's with longtubes, full bolt-ons with it, with amazing driveability, excellent idle quality, fuel economy etc.

Cam will work fine and have nice drivability with stock converter but really recommend something 2800+ stall (which id recommend even for a stock cammed truck)

I just did this. TSP 224/224 112 LSA and a Yank Pro truck 3200. Its been fun so far and I dont have headers or an air intake yet lol. Still fine tuning it.

I dont know anything about performance either so I cannot compare to anything. Just FYI

Just from my experience, I wouldn't go any bigger than a 220. Even with a 3k stall and 4:11's it's still sluggish as hell down low. Just remember bigger is NOT always better in this situation. If I could go back and do it, which I will eventually, I would get the trucker cam 216/224. From a 30 roll it can hold its own, but the track doesn't let you do that. Lol I was even told by a few members on another forum the low lift 212/218 is as good as the 220 but with a little more torque down low.

TSP220.....do it

or for a cheaper non-stall solution put in an LS hot cam.
