SO i talked to a guy today about getting a tune and he said that he taps into the computer system using efi live and the rest is a "custom" tune.

what im wandering is.. whats the diff between that and a BB tune? he said he would charge me 250 bucks

thanks

Yeah this guy does a lot of fleet trucks. And cars and trucks around here. Idk if he uses a dyno or not tho. 250 a good price?

Justin at Blackbear uses EFI Live software for tuning. He had me wanting to by the software before he finished my tune and had him back to his car. He has 100's if not thousands of dyno pulls for just about every truck and mod combination out there. Not to mention he also used to be a instructor(if not still) for EFI Live University. Ive dealt with Justin for years and IMO his knowledge of GM trucks is unparalled.

local if he is a good tuner, will be easier for retunes, hour at most sounds like he just wants to get in and get out. Make him tune that bitch right

:word: my tuner spent at least 45 minutes tuning before he even started the truck.

Obviously you won't see as much of a difference if you have a 5 speed but yes some power and possibly a small mpg gain. Still worth it :imo

I know with my blackbear tune it didn't take 20-30 minutes start to finish to tune my truck so I wouldn't sweat it if he doesn't take a full hour to tune it...i would check on the shop and see what he has done and go from there.

It will depend on what you have done, what mods are on your truck and choice of octane. I had Rev, Speedlimiter, torque management, abuse mode and rear O2's all deleted. Had efan activated and tuned for 89 octane with CAI , exhaust and tire size recalculated as my only mods on all three of my trucks. 99 5.3 Sierra ECSB, 01 4.8 Sierra RCSB and my 06 5.3 Silverado SBCC. On the 99 and 01 I also had the operating system swapped to the 02 operating system.

I noticed the most gain on the 01 with the 4.8. All three run really well and bark 2nd with ease, but it turned the 4.8 into the funest to drive but like I stated, it was a 4.8 RCSB and the others were not and is most likley why it was more noticeable on it. Overall drivability was gained on all 3 and about 1.5 mpg.
