My truck is an 05 and has Auto/Digital Climate Controls. Even though it has an auto setting, I never use it.

I'm not sure if the issue could be random or what.

Earlier today I drove the truck to LA and had my A/C on with no issues with fan speed in relation to air output. I parked and left the truck for several hours and when I got back in and went on my way I noticed not too long after that there was a difference in fan speed on the controls in relation to air output.

I have the controls set to high and the system sounded as normal like you would expect, temperature was also very cold like it should be. But, I noticed that the air output from the vents was as if the fan speed was on low compared to the actual position of the fan control and system sounds (loud fan noise, for lack of a better description). The condition did not change no matter if the defroster, dash, or floor vents were selected. Also it did not change when I shut the climate controls all the way off either.

I got home and parked the truck and about an hour or two later I went back out to check to see if the problem still persisted but it seems as if the fan speed is back to "normal"

I've read that there is a large number of trucks having issues with the blower motor resistor. Or does this sound like it was a completely different issue? Or perhaps just a random fluke. Is there any part of the system that I should check just to be on the safe side?

Thanks!

Sounds like a blower motor resistor to me but normally the auto climate control trucks don't have that problem. Pull it out and see if the resistor has any visible damage, it might look burnt and check the plug also, for every 3 of those I changed the plug would be melted on 2 of them.

I pulled out the resistor this morning and the plug looks good. I took a couple pictures of what the resistor looks like. The fan speed vs output is working like normal.

It doesn't look like they do when they burn out. Possibly a stuck blend door actuator would be my first thought.
