Just got a 6.0 lq4 block and getting it cleaned up what pistons do you guys recommend putting on. Will at least be spraying a 200 shot. Not looking to bore just want some better pistons to hold spray or should I not even bother changing them.

From what I recall, those are the pistons you want.
They are pretty damn decent if I remember right.

Everyone prefers the lq4 pistons at least for boost.
200 is a lot of juice though.

LQ4 are dished, so for a stock piston, those are the one's you'd want to go with for spray/boost.

Lol all depends on how attached to your motor you are. Spray as much as you can for numbers, but risk melting pistons. I'd be a little more conservative and keep the motor around for a little bit.

I plan on keeping it around for a while it's just a short block as of now and since I plan on spraying it I want to know what are my best options as far as what pistons setup to run

Well in that case I'd run a forged dished piston if you want it to last. But those are $600+ a set.

Stock bore is 4.000". In a perfect world, and replacement 4.000" bore piston will work.

I would talk with an engine builder just to get an idea of what they'd recommend for you. Not necessarily for them to bud it, just to pick their brains about your plans.

We can give you a ton of info, but they have real world experience on what works and when it breaks. That's the best advice I can give ya.

If youre planning on spraying the fuck out of it, and want longevity/to preserve your block in the case of destroying a stock piston, youre going to want to upgrade pistons, at that point, may as well upgrade rods. Id be a bit more conservative on the spray and run it a while then do a full build. or keep it out of the truck until I did a full/forged build. :imo:

Do yourself a favor and build the block right, why "cheat" and risk blowning the block for 10 seconds of power then u can do it right and still have the reliability.

I also remember being in a discussion with local guys talking about this. IIRC one thing that was also recommended was coated bearings, the sudden shock of power from spray kills stock bearings.

Just another thought you may want check into and mention.

As said, let your engine builder decide that way you have a warranty. Also spraying 200 shot youd want to pull around 8-10 degrees of timing maybe more. For that i recommend and LCN-200 from leingfelter. It pulls the timing when you arm the No2 system. That way you arent required to re tune to spray or ride around will 10 degrees pulled at all times.

op, u just cant slap a stock bore piston in there and assume ur fine. You need to have a machine shop/engine builder check the bores for wear. with 200 shot id run arp rod bolts, arp head studs.

ring gaps will have to be setup properly as well.

OP- With anything near a 200 shot you need to look into lowering the compression, A slightly dished piston will help but it ultimately boils down to how good your tune is seeing as how there is no "ultimate" nitrous piston. Like Samuel mentioned above the LCN-200 seems to work well and playing with ring gaps can help too.
